I'm wearing a pair of slipper boots from Lidl - bought this morning for £4.99 - they're fabulous, really cosy :)

I left the crockpot on to make soup and shut the kitchen door. Was really surprized at how much warmer the kitchen felt, just from the crockpot.

That's one of the things I realy enjoy, making meals as the kitchen gets realy cosy.It reminds me of when I was young we did'nt have the option of putting on the heating then.Just one coal fire for heat and that was in the living room.
I'm finding it very easy to do without the heating and we're in a routine, layers, throws ect.I'm in the frame of mind now that I'm not even considering the need to use it.
We're certainly not suffering that's for sure, but it is making us realise how soft we were.

My OH is being a pure pain in the !!! re this film double glazing stuff. He wont buy it, says it will be useless and hard to put up. :(

I didn't use the one that you use a hair dryer on because it works out quite expensive - all I did was surround the frame with double sided tape and I got some clear plastic sheet ( the thicker the better). The trick is to stick the plastic on the top first, then the bottom so it is taught, when that is done ease the plastic onto the sides remembering to keep it as flat and as taught as possible.
Hope all that is not too long winded but it has worked for me for the last five years. x

  • I've been wanting to post but had probs on the site being able to do it and tonight finally sorted so her I am.

I have only had my heating on for a total of 4 hours since before the summer. I decided about a month ago after reading this place that we would give it a go. Then a couple of weeks in I recieved my gas bill. They owe me 37.00 and have put my monthly DD up from 67.00 to 94.00. In anticipation of me using that amount of gas. I'm glad I chose not to use the heat before I got that bill ;)

Anyway...We realised after being at a friends house last night with the heat belting out that we were roasting and have becom aclimatised (sp) to not too much heat.

My supervisor asked me today what I was getting the kids for xmas...I told her they'd be getting a day of heating on....but it will off again boxing day as xmas is over then... :D

Although my heating is 'ON' - I'm still finding that it's barely coming on at all (possibly a few minutes around 7.00am and again for a few minutes around 10.00pm)! The thermostat is STILL set at 18 - so it's obvious that it's hardly dropping below that at the moment.

However I am noticing the difference when I've been outside and come back indoors again :D. Some of the elderly people that I work with have got their heating blasting out at 25 - 30, despite my warnings to them about high bills etc.
