Heating on now for a couple of days, because it was nearly freezing outside, and when I came down Saturday morning, it had tripped the 16.5C thermostat and the heating kicked in automatically - it wasn't doing that last year.
On the plus side, we only have the rads on in two rooms, and our bedroom gets turned off around sevenb in the evning so that it can cool down.0 -
Stove was on for less than 2 hours this morning, I had to turn it off, it was getting too warm downstairs. The sun is now blazing in and blinds are lowered, I am off out or I would be opening a window. Living areas on the south side are 22 degrees, outside is 6 degrees
Upstairs is a lot cooler at 18.5 which it pretty well retains all the time. I woke up to it being 18.3, which is ideal for sleeping.
Our house is the opposite of yours as the upstairs area is always warmer , but this suits at bedtime, as the room were are in retains heat when the system goes off.
I'd love 22 degrees,as I have been known to be wrapped in a blanket and still feel cold, when the multiple thermometers say the room is over 22 degrees.0 -
Much colder here today - first frost on the car and thermostat said that the house was at 14.5C. Just in from work, flicked heating on and will keep coat in tl house warmer, Curry for tea which will warm me up and later will have an extra duvet on bed and trusty water bottle. Been dead cold at work too, my students kept their coats on."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Home from work and I cant get warm, which is unusual. It feels icy cold here. We had a ground frost this morning when I left for work at half six. Heating is ON!0

Still off here apart from the Calor gas heater in the evening. We shut one of the bedroom windows on Friday as it was so windy the curtains were blowing in the wind! However, we got so hot we had to open the window again the following night, just on the vent though.
We've had 2 heavy frosts here but it's fine when we get up; jump straight in the shower and get on with the day (wearing lots of jumpers!)0 -
Caved in today. It was icy cold and am not very well. Was in bed wearing sweatshirt and panda hat and kept falling asleep. Bathroom was too cold to stand in. Took me until 2pm to venture downstairs and put the central heating on and then turned a few thermostats on. No heating in kitchen and have safely left things out that would normally be in the fridge. was warmer outside when i went to the library.
Try to make it through to December and only have it on a few hours but getting clothes dry has been a problem in the last couple of weeks so will make full use of any energy. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

The stove is still on after 2 1/2 hours this morning but the house fabric cools down much more quickly in the raw cold windy weather of late. I am not going to let the house itself get into a cold state as it would take ages for the heat to be absorbed. I have the stove timed to come on later in the day, 2-9, it won`t come on if not needed for the ch. I don`t need extra water input today, otherwise the stove lights up just for the hot water, which I set for a couple of hours at 3 pm. The stove lighting up for the hw keeps the living areas cosy. Different altogether if we have a power cut, then it will be down to candles in my snug
Upstairs bedroom is at 18.5 and downstairs now at 21. An amazing stove, takes about 5 kg of pellets in 24 hours at the moment0 -
Heating still only on as and when but this morning it was really cold in bathroom so may have to set time for it to come on in the morning for 30 minutes to take the chill off. Evenings are still gas fire in lounge and hot water bottles in bed!0
