I had details of this in an email this morning, has anyone tried it?

It was a winning idea on Dragon's Den apparently.

I was offered it for £14.95 because I signed up to receive regular offers from Gizoo, although I haven't ordered anything from them yet.

Yes, I got one of these ready for when we do turn the heating on - we had a problem with the (soon to be replaced 20 year old) boiler (hot water supply) and the engineer tested the whole system so I tried it out while he had the heating on. It really does work :j - the fans do make a noise but I imagine it would soon fade into the background and one would cease to hear it.

Still no heating here although I was tempted this morning. It was 13 degrees inside  . Just rushed around getting kids ready for school (they didn't complain about it being cold) and then went shopping with my mum. Wasn't a lot warmer when I got home but busied myself all day, putting shopping away, going to work for a couple of hours and then some tidying up. "Another day, another dollar" as my mum says.

I've relented and put the gas fire on in the lounge this evening, but I am still wearing my fleece and wrapped in a 'throw'. The CH came on briefly this morning, which means the temperature indoors must have dropped below the 14 degree mark as that's where the thermostat is set. Brr!

The weather is so unpredictable at the moment - freezing cold one day and then warm the next  - so hard to know where we stand.

My heating is still technically 'on' (7-9am and 7-11pm) but have lowered the room thermostat to 16 degrees - i.e. if the temperature drops below 16 then the heating will kick in. Most of the time during the 'on' periods, the little red light is not coming on - so looks as though it isn't really all that cold at the moment here. We have put the 'flame effect' on the electric fire though -psychological warmth lol :D.

Was a completely different story here yesterday though - bitterly cold!
  • It is 18 degrees in my living room and 14 in the kitchen  - the difference in temperature hits you when you go into the kitchen. I have vowed not to put the heating on until 1st Nov and I'm sure I can last. Having said that tonight I have kept my woolly hat on since coming in from walking the dogs :rotfl:

I don't have central heating - I'm sure that if I did I would have caved by now. If I'm sitting watching tv or on the computer I sit with a hot water bottle behind my back
