Just shows how different peoples' priorities are...I would have real heating rather than a 36" LCD telly either on or off! I don't like tons of heating, but I do like some and could easily live without TV.

Absolutely - there would be a lot of things I'd rather do without before heating. Don't like big TVs anyway - ours is bigger than I'd prefer due to family pressure and if it was heating or TV, it could go. Now, if it was a choice btween heating and laptop ...

When I was younger I don't think my mum ever watched TV. She was either busy or reading/sewing etc. However she is now on her own and constantly has the TV on. She still reads/sews but has the TV on as well. She says it's "company".

    Hi Kittie,

I have added your thread to the current thread on whether or not people are putting the heating on as both threads are virtually identical and you will be able to get support from others in that thread who, like you, are choosing not to put the heating on.

You just reminded me of my dear old Mum (passed on) who not only had the tv blaring but the radio on at the same time!!!!!!

ceridwen there is always a `slave` radiator somewhere as it is a safety device. It is often in an airing cupboard and must always be left on

I have been told that too and for me my last two properties it has been the bathroom rads with no control on it.

Tested the heating for a hour and half to make sure all the rads work and them do :j have now turned it off again.

    Yours

I am one of the non-stoics who still has no CH on but has occasional bouts of woodstove on in the evenings. BTW do hot water bottles count for Stoic or non-Stoic? To prepare them one needs to make an energy expenditure of some sorts, and they do represent a form of heating after all!

At the moment I am at risk of giving in because my son complained about the house being freezing cold (it is true!). I can resist, no problem there, but if the kids feel the cold I feel too bad at depriving them. Watch this space!

No heating here yet. It's quite mild again today and I've got the windows open to let in fresh hair, and me sitting here with a light sweater on. Here's hoping it lasts and lasts... :D

    Ciao Caterina!
