Once you have done so, use this guide to reset your DNS Server choice to automatic. (Divert from step 7 in order to choose "Obtain DNS server address automatically")
Download, install, update and run a Quick Scan with Malwarebytes' AntiMalware. When complete, choose 'Remove Selected' if there is anything to remove and Reboot your computer.
After restart, open the program again and go to 'Logs'. Double click on the log produced for today and post the contents here.
You should now be able to connect to the Internet.0 -

I didn't say there would be a change. Have your completed the steps in #22?0 -
- Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button
, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections. - Right-click the connection that you want to change, and then click Properties.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. - Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click either Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), and then click Properties.
- To specify IPv4 IP address settings, do one of the following:
- To obtain IP settings automatically, click Obtain an IP address automatically, and then click OK.
- To specify an IP address, click Use the following IP address, and then, in the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway boxes, type the IP address settings.
set the ip address at 192.168.0.97 (very unlikey another device there)
use 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 if it asks for DNS servers (openDNS)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 - Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button

I downloaded avg because I had removed an expired version of Norton.
I then ran AVG scan and Malwarebytes for good measure.
Because I have never actually heard of AVG detecting and removing anything.
Something like Kaspersky's Antivirus would have been more useful.0 -

I haven't found it so bad. I've been using the free version for years.
Between AVG and Malwarebytes I've managed to keep my computers safe from attacks
I once got a nasty trojan but that was my own fault for visiting a site that was a bit dodgy (no nothing naughty). AVG got rid of it ok
I've since advised anyone I know not to use LimewireIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0 -
