Thats interesting to know and easy to do as well. Might have to give that one a go! Looks like I'm getting on top of them anyway - only found 6 yesterday and was down to 2 today, not many eggs either. Will carry on combing for the next 2 weeks to be sure!

Update... SHE'S CLEAR!!!! Hurrah!!! Been through 3 times now and found nothing! Fingers crossed she'll not get them again for a long time. I plan on trying the tea tree thing to keep them away from now on! Thanks everyone for all your advice and support!!

That is great Anya - my daughter is scratching her head but will not let me treat her yet so I am getting quite cross. I am sitting here with a shower cap on my head as I have tried the oil with tea tree eucalyptus and lavendar drops on my head. Itching as I type - Yeuch!!!!!

I really feel for you. Eventually my little girl came round to the fact that she was going to sit there like it or not - I just had to persist!! Good Luck!

We need a smilie scratching like mad ... argh I shouldn't have read this, I'm never going to stop itching!

Anyway, FWIW, I swear by Quassia chips (I think you pronounce it "Quizia" but don't quote me on that!). Mine are all at secondary school now and thankfully past the worst of it, but they were certainly the best thing I found.

I used to get them from Culpeppers but I did a quick google and there are other places too. They're like little lumps of wood. You steep them overnight or boil them for a shorter time, strain and allow to cool. Then you pour the liquid over the infested heads and comb, comb, comb. If your sieve isn't fine enough, you'll panic because you'll be combing out tiny bits of Quassia chips too.

I then used to put any leftover liquid into a plant spray bottle and squirt it over them before school each morning. And comb comb comb.

It tastes VERY bitter and doesn't smell very attractive either, but it's non-greasy and the boys didn't object to the smell. Which I think they would have done if I'd used lavendar and geranium oil!

Poor you! We've been there and it's rotten. Our kids are now grown up but now I work in a school! From the above posts I believe my liberal applications of hairspray plus the odd dab of tea tree oil behind my ears (lol don't I smell nice ;) ) have done the trick. Mind you as I sit here typing I do feel compelled to scratch my head!

Well rightly or wrongly I used Lyclear yesterday masses of conditioner and loads of combing this morning and nothing came out. The ones who will need most vigilance and work are the two with long hair. Hey ho happy days, wonder if a sense of humour will keep them at bay;)

The main thing I did was put tonnes of conditioner on her hair and comb and comb and comb. I left the conditioner in - I didn't rinse it out. I was literally sitting there with a water spray, bottle of conditioner, bowl of water to drown the little things and a towel. I combed every day for about an hour!!!!! Got there eventually -just had to persist. Good Luck needmoney - I really feel for you!
