I must say that I am really upset that people would even contemplate spending that amount of money on themselves. Set yourself up nicely, then give the rest away. You can't take it with you when you die, and how much do you need to provide security whilst you are alive?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Dont worry, its a purely theoretical discussion.

Anddont worry, if you have ever seen Brewster Millions, you can guarantee I could spend it.

For a start, I would donate 50 million to the Tory Party.

Edit: Something like dragons den for truely ingenious british inventions would be a good investment I reckon.

I would buy a large house with plenty of grounds in the same town I am in now.
I would buy a family friendly car (quite possibly an MPV) and also a smaller one for me as a run around.
I would employ a live in housekeeper/cook so that the cat never had to go into a cattery and there would be someone there to keep an eye on the boys if I wanted to go out.
Youngest son would go to a fee paying school with smaller and quieter classes (middle son would want to stay where he is).
We would still holiday in the UK for our main summer holiday (buying a top of the range caravan and have it sited) but we would also have some overseas holidays.
I would make sure my parents, siblings, ex mother in law and ex husband are ok (well it would be nice for the boys to have someone nice to stay if ex ever did decide he wanted to see them).

I would also, as a charitable contribution, give the local high schools (which are now under the same management), an amount as a lump sum so that all children would have the option of a free school meal, a uniform grant, a laptop grant and a school trips grant, regardless of their benefit/working status.....I know only too well that there are some who are just outside of the cut off for the assistance for the above items which then puts them in a much worse position than someone who does claim benefits and are eligable for free school meals, something I find completely unfair.

The rest would be invested, held as savings etc to provide an income with the possibility of also having someone to care for the boys so I could go into some employment of my choosing to keep my brain alive.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I could finally achieve my dream:

Build a nursing home that really does take good care of our older relatives who can no longer look after themselves. They would be treated with respect, allowed to get up and go to bed when they want, eat the food they like, take their time over daily chores and not be left in urine-soaked beds for hours on end. They would have the minimum standard life that we would all expect to get. It would be a complete revolution from every nursing home I've ever worked in.

And it wouldn't cost them £800 a week from their life savings.

I'd use it as a case study, an example, to promote the hidden issues of elderly care in this country. I'd campaign for care standards for everyone and would try to make a real difference. And in the meantime, I know I couldn't do right every infirm old person out there, but at least I could feel proud of those few I did!

I'd give £200,000,000 to the Bill and Melissa Gates Foundation and pay off my sister's mortgage. The rest I'd use to buy as many different sorts of income generating assets that I could think of.
