    sounds all a bit strange...

My previous post was tainted with a touch of sarcasm.

  • Bin anything you've not used for a couple of months, I reckon!

It'd get expensive replacing all those Christmas decorations every year! Not forgetting those winter clothes and coats discarded during the summer months, oh and the summer clothes discarded during the winter months. The gardening equipment thrown away during winter would also cost a pretty penny to replace!

I dread to think how many electrical items there are in my house.

I don't generally buy for the sake of buying, but have recently been upgrading equipment. Basically I'm doing it now before VAT goes up.

It seems the problem is, every upgrade I do has an impact on something else. So find I end up having to buy something else then to get the most out of the upgrade.

I do try to keep everything as "all in one" as possible, but this ends up more costing. For instance, just replaced four external drives for storage, with 1 NAS drive. Problem with this is that now sits on, using power constantly (but only 8w apparently). I also now need to upgrade the router as WIFI data transfer is somewhat painful.

Just can't seem to get away from having a mutlitude of devices around the house. Really should replace my old 28" CRT TV upstairs. As that's now got a freeview box and DVD player attached (so 3 plugs). Instead, I could have one LED TV with freeview and DVD included, using less power than just the old TV alone, let alone all 3 items.

Hmmm, maybe I should stop being a parasite and get myself down to currys.

    You know it makes sense.

Go on, do your bit for your nation (cue the national anthem).

BTW. Why not by online, you`ll save quite a few £ on an LED TV ?

Sorry, scrap that advice, you need to spend as much as possible. And don`t forget to buy British !

As a parasite, I'd do all I can to keep as many savings as possible. Go to currys, physically look at them. Go home, find some vouchers, go through a cashback site, then go back and collect it or maybe get it sent to me if it's free delivery so I can keep some more of my money.

Mindyou, I talked myself out of it as I don't need it pretty much as soon I pressed submit on the last post :D

ahh so nobody actually called you an evil parasite then... i thought that would be the case.

Gosh. Something I didn't ever say was the case isn't the case. Stop the Press!

    Good man.

If you do feel the urge to but an LED TV, don`t !

Better to just pop down to Currys and watch whatever you want to watch, then come back home. Not only does it save you buying one, it saves electricity too. Your "parasite" status will remain firmly intact, and you`ll probably get a (second hand) Christmas Card from Mr M. Lewis.

Not much of that lot is electrical, though? And it was in that context I was talking.

I'm prepared to except seasonal electrics from my decree, however (-:

Why not just get rid altogether? If you've another downstairs?

Cus I can't be bothered lugging my bed downstairs to watch TV!

Could stream movies upstairs though if I got a LED TV for the bedroom....hmmmm :D
