Slimming World Extra Easy or extra hard.

Just want some opinions really from anyone who has done these plans.
I first went to Slimming World 8 and a half years ago and successfully lost ten stone on the Green plan. Unfortunately over the years i have slowly gained half of it back so i went back two weeks ago and was pleased to lose 4 and a half pounds in the first week doing their Extra Easy plan. However on my second week i GAINED A POUND. How the hell did this happen when i ate exactly the same things and measured my healthy extras. For f***k* sake i didnt sit in front of the TV with a bloody great bar of Galaxy. I ate loads of fruit in the second week just as i did in the first. My weekly shopping bill went up by a tenner and as you have to eat so much fruit and veg on this plan i had to do another top up shop yesterday which was 20 pounds:eek:and that doesnt include veg i cant afford that as well.(Will be interesting to see how many are still doing this plan come January when VAT shoots up!) Im now beginning to wonder if i just lost the 4 and a half pounds by stopping eating rubbish. I dont mind paying a little more on my shopping bill (although not this much) i can budget in other areas but if its not going to bloody work then no way.
The worst thing is that im sure some people in the class were thinking "well she must have sneaked something" i was so upset when i came home last night it actually crossed my mind to make myself throw up after meals though only for a fleeting moment.
Never been so p****d off!

  • I'm doing the Extra Easy plan too and for me at least it really does work. I've been doing it for 8 weeks and lost at least 1.5 pounds every week but one.

Give it some time because your body weight does fluctuate throughout the month.

My shopping bill has gone up a little bit but evened out because I'm not buying as much junk when out and about and eating out less. Also, the VAT rise shouldn't make a difference - I'm pretty sure you don't pay VAT on food.

Thanks Northerngirl. Im glad its working for you. Its just so frustrating and upsetting when you know youve followed it. i might give it another week and if it still doesnt work then i will go back to Green.

i dont understand hy you dont just adopt a sensible eating plan that is not a gimmic and will serve you for the rest of your life, it would also mean that you would not have to overspend on food ie just consume less than you expend ...simples !!

Hi, I know how you feel my Daughter started doing this six weeks ago, her first weigh day she only lost two pounds when everyone else on their first week was losing four and five pounds she was really disappointed, then the second week she stayed the same  she was getting really fed up now then the third week she lost four pounds :D, and thats how things are going with her everyone is different so stick with it and give it more time, you can do green days in between try that let us know how you get on.

1/3 Superfree food is esential on EE days. A lot of people find it confusing to start with. Heres a SW thread with support, ideas etc https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2705971
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

i found slimming world very hard, and gained even though i followed it, have since switched to weight watchers, which is far easier, and is more of a balanced everyday diet, that i can now stick to even tho i have reached my goal now.

Always take your weight loss over a month - not week to week. We can easily hold on to fluid that can give the impression of a weight gain.
Also try and include more protein foods in your diet, these keep us feeling fuller for longer. Fruit may be healthy but it also contains sugar, so better to spend your money on high fibre, veg than the fruit.
Anything that raises our blood sugar - including refined carbs - will stimulate our body to release insulin to bring it down. This sugar is then stored as fat, reducing the blood sugar then makes us feel hungry again. This can lead to blood sugars peaking & troughing all day. Filling up on protein will help maintain blood sugar in healthy range and stop cravings.
Even nuts - yes I know they contain fat, but that doesn't mean our body uses it all - can help us with long term weight loss.
Google "nuts & weight loss" - you may be surprised.

I found just couldnt get to grips with SW but my friend loved it! I find WW easier...

Arran M - People go on slimming plan because they need rules and boundries to follow - if they could just do healthy eating they wouldn't be over weight!!

I just stuck to green plan on SW as I found the extra easy more complicated as I was used to green and knew what I could eat day to day already without getting used to a new plan. I never found it more expensive to do the plan as I would be eating less.

As others say you have to give it a chance and view your loss over a month not a week. As you had a large loss the first week it was probably water so you should lose more over the month- however even if you stay the same for the next 2 weeks 3.5 pounds off in a month is still good.

I followed the Slimming World plan (red & green days) 7 years ago, lost almost 3 stone and have kept 2.5 stone of that off.

I didn't go to classes, I borrowed my sisters books and did it myself.

However, I'm a very determined person and not really into classes and I did excercise vigourously daily - and still do.

I don't know what the Extra Easy Plan is, but I still pretty much stick to red or green days.
If we're having pasta for dinner, I'll have a jacket potato for lunch or beans on toast.

I managed to convert a lot of my favourite recipes (risotto, moussaka etc) to fit in with the diet.

    OP
I'd give it a bit more time instead of just looking at the weight loss/gain over 2 weeks.
