Although it looks good, kerri, it will probably end up costing you more in petrol (you'll use a lot of petrol driving back home in a Clio with an oven on board), hassle and aggro from OH - and will you be able to sell it minus the handles anyway? If I were in your position, I'd go for the handle, with a swift reminder for the future that they need careful cleaning.

Just my opinion, but I know how much aggro I'd get from my OH if he kept falling over an unwanted oven that I'd bought:o

    Hope it helps x

Spoony - me, my self-closing eyebrows (which really will be if I don't get them done tomorrow :rotfl::rotfl:) and a couple of glasses of wine are inclined to agree with you.

I would have swapped a good handle with my not-so-good one (it is still in one piece, just has some white marks now) on the cooker and sold it back on for parts (the one on ebay has a cracked hob top but someone else was wanting the door off of it) but you're right, with petrol etc it will be a real pain in the 'friday wiggler' :) Found a guy on Gumtree that sells parts so I've emailled him, and I'll call the manufacturer tomorrow too but think I'm just gonna have to swallow the £40 and as you say, be more careful next time (or get someone in to clean it for me :rotfl:)

OH is used to me rolling home with stuff from Freecycle etc but after an incident with a double bed (don't ask....:o) I think it might be best not to ask if he'd mind a spare oven in the dining room for a while....

Get someone to clean it for you would definitely get my vote, kerri:T:T

OK.. I won't ask about the double bed, then, but something tells me your OH wouldn't be desperately happy with a spare oven lurking around:D:D x

    Good morning folks!

Up early today as OH is working this weekend. I aint complaining though as it's much appreciated overtime. OT has been rather thin on the ground this year and any extra pennies are very welcome!:)
Today Im catching up with some household chores, changing bed and washing. Will not be overdoing though as I have an episode of Downton Abbey to catch up on;)
This afternoon I'm going to visit my aunt again. She is still in hospital being treated for psoriasis. She has no family other than her sister who has terrible arthritis and cant get in to see her. ( She's not a blood relative but we've always called her our aunt IYSwIM) It must be a very long day stuck in hosp when you are also blind.:(
Not planning to spend anything but I may take sis and aunt for a cuppa this afternoon - we'll see what happens.

    Have a lovely day everyone:)

    cw18: more cheese, Cheryl, wow, that’s brilliant, not surprised you’re a [STRIKE]happy[/STRIKE] ecstatic bunny:T
I'm still chuffed to pieces this morning - can't believe I've managed to get hold of 6kg of ready grated cheese for £2.25 :T

Probably just as well I don't get it at that price too often though - I think the weight loss would become weight gain very quickly :o

I just need to see how many freezer bags I can salvage from around the house / need to buy so I can get stuck into splitting at least one of the 2kg bags down today. Yesterdays bags of cheese have this last Thursdays date on them (28th - the previous one was 21st), so I'm not going to fret if it gets towards the end of the week before I get the last one done ;)

I have a feeling the bakery manager now believes me when I say that (for home use, clearly not the case within the food industry) bbe/use by dates on products are simply there to be used as a guide, supplemented by common sense (plus the senses of sight, smell and taste)

Yay:j:j spoony is very happy as she managed to get no 23 today. :j OH did the shopping for me, so target no 2 is now smashed and I have my skeleton... yippeeeeee!!!!:j:j
Well done Spoon - don't forget to bring him on the outing now you've managed to fetch one home :T

In other news from this week (been shattered with an out-of-sync body clock after a full weekend last Sat/Sun and extra hours on Wednesday morning), I'm now the proud owner of a new pushbike - complete with panniers.

Didn't have anywhere near enough pennies in my 'get fit' pot for the bike that was initially recommended based on what I wanted to use it for, so I suggested we started at the lowest price and worked up to the first which would be suitable - and they came up with one that was half the price due to being in a sale with £50 off. Even at full price it would have been about £70 cheaper, but I'd have struggled at that by the time I added on (discounted) panniers and lights.

Decided this will give me an alternative exercise option (which can also be utilised between runs once I'm fully back to that) and be easier on my leg for now

And the addition of the panniers mean it can also be used in place of the car on small local-ish shopping trips (also meaning a slow payback on saved petrol, or on price of groceries when a 3.5 mile round trip to the closest Mr T means getting something cheaper than locally but there's not enough of a saving on what I want to cover the fuel to get there/back).

Went for a ride on Thursday morning and realised it also opens up access to more shops for me, as while the Mr T is walkable on a nice day, places like F/Foods and Icel@nd aren't. I passed F/foods on Thursday (which is next door to a Nett0), whilst Icel@nd is in a different direction but still do-able by pedal-power :)

Then I got a letter from the local physio dept yesterday, saying I was at the top of their list (that was quick - must have been mailed within a week of me seeing the GP), and should get in touch within 2 weeks if I still feel I need/want to see them. So one phone call made, the initial appt offered turned down (Monday is never going to be a good day due to work, but this next Monday wouldn't give enough time to make arrangements for time out of work to attend), and an 'early appt on Wed/Thur/Fri' requested due to work schedule. As a result my initial assessment is this coming Friday (5th) at 8:40am !!! Going to have to be sure to get up nice and early that morning......

Have some spending to do today/tomorrow, but it's almost all fresh stuff I put the money to one side for ealier in the week - the theory being this means I can get it fresh as I need it, rather than it sitting around at home/in the fridge for several days before being started (and risking it going off before I finish it). Also need a few tins of sliced mushrooms (won't have freezer space for the replacement bag I'd planned to get/put the money aside for once the cheese is in there ;)), but I was already planning to double check prices as I'm sure one of the local discount stores had tins that work out cheaper than the frozen ones anyway......

Woo hoo another NSD for me taking me to lucky? 13 NSD for friday for me please spoonie!

A very spendy day for me today as got paid yesterday. Have already done weeks shopping when dropping DS off at work at $sd$ and filled up with half my months budget on petrol. Will spend today paying as many bills as possible online and the GG's livery. That should give me a good start for NSd's in November!!!:j:j:j As will be able to leave purse at home most of the month :)

  • Yesterday was no. 17 for me - I can't quite believe how well I've done this month. Hoping to squeeze one more in but might need to pop to shop later for eggs. Thanks to everyone who supports this challenge it's really motivating.

Just out of interest what's the record for a monthly total does anyone know? Also wondering if anyone has kept track of the record of NSDs in a row. If not it could be something we do for the future with maybe a little bit at the top of the running total like a mini hall of fame to further inspire folks.:D

My personal best (including D/Debits as a spend like I do now) is the 24 I made in August.
This is also my personal best excluding D/Debits, as I was using the current counting method (and buying groceries on D/Debit days) by then

Most in a row is 6, which I've managed several times this year (but not this month)

    Cheryl,

congrats on getting your bike - and well done on getting the deal you wanted.
Glad you got your physio sorted too!
One question though - are the new panniers Whoopsie friendly? LOL!!
