We had Tassimo, it was nice, but nt a patch on Mum's Dolce Gusto; the latte was scrumdiddly.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

Op asks about 2 simple £50 machines and gets told to buy a £350 one...
Believe it or not, thats about £300 more than a lot of us actually care about a hot drink!
Back on topic (if thats even near possible here these days) Op the Tassimo is an excellent machine, early ones lacked power but were revised last couple of years. I believe they were revised again fairly recently. Places like Amazon and Argos often have special offers on them. The decaf. and starbucks cartridges are all you really need. As to the coffee? well you may not be able to bore the people in the pub for hours with how you spent a fortune on the ultimate brew, but if you want something 20 times better than Gold Blend in the cup in about a minute, no messing, I highly recommend it.
Thank you very much
it is such a hard decision! I like the tassimo as it has a larger range of products whereas the gusto doesnt have as much on offer. I have spoken to someone at work today who has a tassimo and she likes it for the hot chocolate but her mom has a gusto and she likes that best for the capuccino and latte, but I prefer hot chocolate anyway! I think I will get a Tassimo unless I read anything concrete that tells me not to.
Thanks again to everyone who has given me advice

Just an aside - after cafetiere use, feed any leftover grounds on failing pot plants and see them thrive/sprout up.
Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0 -

Fair enough. I often get coffee from the local coffee shop who have a big professional espresso machine... But I always choose to have filter coffee instead - I find it tastes less bitter and has a more complex flavour.
I normally have expensive tastes, so thank god there's one area where I don't feel the need to splash out! :T0 -

My Gaggia has been used at least twice daily for the last 8 years.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Another vote for Gaggia, I have had mine for 10 years and use it daily. Coffee always at the correct temperature, I can have espresso, latte and cappucino as it froths the milk as well.
If in doubt how good they are, notice how many cafes and restaurants have Gaggia machines, they are the Rolls Royce of coffee machines.0 -
Although the pods are a lot cleaner and less hassle to use, they will work out a lot more expensive in the long run than using 'proper' coffee.
I'd add another vote for Gaggia! There is a refurb store which saves quite a bit of ££

Hi all,
I want to buy a coffee machine but I dont know which one is best out of a Nescafe Dolce Gusto or a Bosch Tassimo. Does anyone have any advice on which one would be best?
Without looking up these two, I wouldn't buy any coffee machine which uses pods. Buy on which uses ground coffee or beans. Pods are far more expensive and you can only buy the ones the manufacturer sells. With ground coffee or beans you have a much wider choice and it is cheaper too.0 -
Do the gaggia coffee pod machines only take gaggia pods?0
