Pooks....what a lovely idea and how generous. I don't think people realise the desperation of being in debt until they've actually experienced rock bottom. I hope you do find a really deserving cause.

Pooky, could you buy a load of stocking fillers and take them to the children's ward at the local hospital at xmas? Or chocolates for the local hospice, or something like that?

I really would prefer it went to one person Ames so that it made the difference between paying the rent and eating....if that makes sense.:o

Ohhhhhh Spud! Go for it! I'll come up and cheer you on (not that, that would make you do it...)

Beannie - Hope the tooth's feeling a bit better.

Had my parents here today which was lovely. Spent lots of money, which was also lovely and decided that now we're debt free and have a nice lump of savings that we want to give something to someone. We want to give £100 to someone who really, really could do with it because I know just how much we could have done with that during some of the dark days of deep debt. But the problem is who....I don't want to donate to a charity where some of the money is lost in administration, I want it to go to someone who really needs it. So ideas on a post card - are there any organisations out there that I can contact that would help people in this way? I know £100 isn't a huge sum but I know just how much it could help someone so if anyones got any ideas please let me know.

The cheerleading offers are actually making me want to do it. I cant quite believe anyone would want to bother for me. I really hope some of the proper runners that want to do it get in - Luc, Squizz, Sal, Bun - fingers crossed for you all.

What a lovely thing to do hun. What about lurking on the diaries, see if a long timer is struggling at the moment?

    That makes perfect sense Pooky.

I know loads of groups in Leeds that would know people, but not where you are. If there's a refugees centre they're always needing help and donations. The salvation army might know of families on the poverty line. Or if there's a tenants federation - one of their member organisations will know people and families local to them that are struggling.

Spud, I'd cheer you on too.

Thanks Ames - the Salvation Army place is just round the corner so I might pop in and have a word.

Another thought - if you get in touch with your local women's aid they probably have loads of families who've left homes with nothing and need help to start afresh.
