Went to Lidl this morning and DH saw a pilot jacket for £14.99 so we grabbed it and also a pair of men's slippers he had been wanting.
Paid a visit to BHS to look at the ceiling lights on sale and glad I had not been tempted to buy online as the sizing for one of them was really misleading. DH was the one who made the biggest fuss that replacement lights should be modern etc then when we were in the shop he started pointing at chandeliers - grhh!!!! Then started bleating that there was too much to choose from - poor lamb;)
Had to rush back to car as ticket was nearly up so consoled ourselves with fish and chips for lunch before driving home so he could have several buckets- er cups of tea and then get back to his beloved garden and garage. Can hear the shredder going as he feeds it some more branches- wonder if he believes it is animate?
Made youngest DD some pizza for tea (HM from yesterday), middle DD is going out tonight for meal at friends, me and DH are still full from fish and chips so only have to feed eldest when she gets back. Might offer her a choice of pizza or bratwurstinnabun .
Hugs to everyone especially Bemuzzed, taplady and tru.

Hi everyone,
I've been absent for the last couple of days reading Memory girls amazing thread. Its given me lots of food for thought even though my life/work situation is pretty much the opposite of hers.
I've just made some millionaires shortcake but was a bit too impatient and put the chocolate on top before the caramel layer had properly set - it's turned into a caramel chocolate swirl. I'm sure it will taste ok.
Also made some mocha squares. DD has her B/f over this weekend (DH and I are off to Corfu for a week) and DS and G/f will be coming round as well so I wanted tomake them some treats.
I'm afraid I succumbed and bought two Rachel Allen cookbooks from the works. I was very tempted by her MIL's book (darina Allen) as well but I couldn't carry them all.
Courgette and potato frittata with salad for dinner so I'll go and get on with that.
Jackie O - I'm glad your arm is a lot better, I'm as stubborn as your DD sometimes. I once sat at a parking barrier exiting a hospital car park because I refused to pay, I'd gone one minute over the free time and my appointment had been cancelled when I got to the dept because of an emergency. As I said to the poor attendant if I'd had my appointment and got out in 21 minutes I would have gladly paid but as it was I refused. He eventually let me out after the queue behind me built up.
Hugs to all in need, epecially tappers DS, it's such a worry when they come home form work in despair, I've been there with DS. Happy birthday master beans.0 -
I've been reading too snoozer, I haven't any novels here as I need to go to the library so its been filling that gap rather nicely. Only halfway through, though!
Flutterby, I always keep some almonds and an apple in my bag in case I am hungry
I can't believe you were talking about Bratwurst Elona, I called my DSisIL earlier, and she couldn't talk as she was just putting her frock on to go to OKtoberfest. I am sooo jealous.
Especially so when I tell you all what's just happened, ding dong at the doorbell, and its the six year old two doors up and another wee boy from further up the street. "Guess what JackieG, X and Y have just climbed into your back garden (over the six foot fence, no less!!!) and stolen DS2's basketball and they're running up the street with it!" Excuse my language but !!!!!!!!!! X lives across the road, and Y is one of the rough family from the next street (who stole DS2's bike a few weeks ago and OH had to go to their door and demand its return!). SO there's no one in yet across the road, I can't leave DS1 in alone and sick, so Y's mother will wait til tomorrow - not that she'll give a damn, anyway - and I am now sat in the livingroom with the blind half up, stalking the house across the road awaiting their return. I am so livid. Bad enough taking it if he's careless enough to leave it lying in the street, but to come onto MY property...............{wanders off mumbling to herself...}It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -

Evening All!
Well Fitz has well and truly arrived! I'd forgotten the need to mark his territory so much - loads of washing and cleaning on my horizon! It's already getting less, so hopefully once he knows he's here to stay it'll stop completely (well indoors anyway!) He certainly knows "no!" - but too late!
He is gorgeous, and quite sensitive - makes us wonder just what sort of treatment he had before. he's been with the foster person for 4 weeks, so now he has another new environment to come to grips with. He knows his name and is happy to offer a paw! So far he and Mollie have not had any contretemps - although I don't think she'll relinquish the top dog position. They even had a romp around the garden earlier.
Lamewolf - I'll try a pic as soon as he stays still or long enough!
jackieO - great news on the new sleeve.
Taplady - how has today been for your son?
Mine managed to get himself transferred to ordinary hospital because he says he was in such pain (They gave him no medication yesterday at all! - claimed they didn't know he had been there before, because "it wasn't on this ward"!!) In the end I sent through a list of his current medication. Anyway he then walked out but having been back to his room for his stuff he has gone back into the mental health unit.
Thanks for all the good wishes, means a lot.Resolution:

DD2 and DH are at a school open evening so its just me and DD1 which is lovely0 -
Beemuzed, {{{hugs}}} for you and yours.
Well, spoke to the boy's aunt across the road, and he's just turned up at the door, not quite apologising, but he got a lecture and a telling off from me, so that shouldn't be happening again.:D He says it was the other boy who climbed the fence because he can't! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry :rotfl: They're only young, Lord only knows what they'll get up to as they get bigger. The thing is, I would have let them have it if they'd asked. Silly boys. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -

Evening all,
Glad to hear that you are no longer bandaged JackieO...enjoy the washing up!
JackieG...good to hear you got the ball back and the chance to have a go....
Snoozer....big fan of Darina Allen's newest book, got it for my birthday, lovely read.
Beemuzed....hugs to you and DS. Look forward to pictures of Fitz, our Kerry is a border collie too...I love them, they are so clever even if they tend to be a bit nervous.
Tru.....you will be fine with the hours, good luck with cards.
Flutterby....good luck with blood tests....presume that you are getting lots of Vit C as it apparently helps the absorbtion of iron by body.
Had some lovely roast beef for dinner, with green beans, the last of our potatoes and turnip, made choc buns for after, although OH insisted on buying a Panetone in Lidl this morning.....afraid to open that, could finish it in one sitting.
How organised you are Lame Wolf....I intend to do things monthly but only manage to pay my electricity, phone and credit card bills still I suppose that's something.
Bitsy....hope that you and DS have had a lovely day.
Hugs to all in need or want of one.
