Lei - you have been on your diet for ages, I gave up with mine and started again last week ... should have stuck to it but I just didnt! thanks for the comment about my colouring :D

Nah unfortunately I've put the 4 1/2 stone I lost last year back on now :( This time round i've been on my diet for about 6 weeks and lost 11lbs but i'm doing it more slowly (i.e. not starving lol!) x

How do you 'create' your cards?
Do you have a picture in your mind before you start - and it works? Do you start with an image and see what goes? I made a very simple card last week that took days involving getting out nearly all my paper of similar colours and 'playing' 'til it looked 'right' and that usually what happens here. I need to make things MUCH quicker so would be grateful for any advice you can offer?

I tend to decide what type of card I'm going to make and pick an image then sketch out the design before picking papers, etc...

Evening ladies, Marg thanks for asking that question, it was interesting reading what others do, I tend to chose the image, then colour then panic about the papers.
rainmac - congrats on your win and so sorry you didnt get the job. Its sounds a good idea hanging on till ds2 is properly settled then having a look around xx

Have a nice night everyone xx

Mad frog, I found out this week that I haven't got an interview for the school job :(, am a tad p*ssed off that I didn't and am going to phone and ask for feedback why I didn't. Will do this when I'm feeling a bit more positive about not getting the interview though ;). I'm having huge guilt pangs about trying to find a job for September when DS2 doesn't start school until half way through and does half days to begin with. I think I may stay as I am until he's settled and then look properly.

Rusty, that's me :j, cheered me up no end (been wrapping up lucky dip prizes for the school summer fayre all day and so bored of it), off to email now, thank you x

Marg, I tend to pick my image and colour it and then choose papers, I do get unstuck sometimes if I have no papers to match. I recently made a card choosing the papers first and that came together far quicker.

sorry to hear you havent got the job :( what a shame!! I am sure you will find something, they are mad to not snap you up!!

I almost text you around 8am (challenge starts at 9) to tell you :j but thought I should keep quiet :rotfl: Kerry picks the winners and blog hop winners so I only found out at 8! glad it cheered you up! Which did you go for?

What a shame :( I know how you feel ... I put on almost all of my 3 stone something ... when I say nearly all, I was 3llb short of putting it all back on :rotfl: You will do it though, you have done it once and know you can do it! ...
I am blaming you for me buying the white and goldish pencils! Bev emailed me last night and told me which colours should do me for every image, so I added a couple of the ones you used on your latest card and now I am just waiting for them to arrive so I can have a go :j

Have a good day all, I have a couple of images ready to colour, did one yesterday but never got it made into a card, was having too much fun colouring! :rotfl) did manage to lose one of the main pens I use for skin ... spent over an hour searching only to pull the flap off the back of the sofa and it rolled out!

  • Hello guys, card related problem here!
I'm trying to fix ribbon to the front of my wedding invitations, is there anything suitable that wouldn't show through?
And anyone recently bought a cheap glue gun (to attach wire butterflies!)don't want to spend a fortune for this one job?
    Thanks, any help appreciated!

    Hello & Welcome!

I use Double sided tape (DST) but fix the ribbon to the back of the backing paper so that there isn't any 'fixing' on the front IYSWIM. Depends how sheer/narrow your ribbon is you might be able to use DST along the length of the ribbon.

Sorry no experience of glue guns - could you use glue dots instead?

Ribbon is sheer and 1 cm wide, I tried pritt stick but scared it'll fall of and then tried bostik extra strong adhesive but it's showing through!

Costcutter - Could you give us an idea of what your invites look like? or are supposed to look like? this may help with how to attach your ribbon.
I also use DST to hide the ribbon behind the paper so to speak. However I use a very strong DST otherwise I find that sometimes the paper starts to pull away where the ribbon is. Dont fork out on a glue gun, it will show through any ribbon and dries hard, so any lumpy bits you will see through.
