Making cards - Ideas (part 5)

Afternoon - hope everyone is ok. It's been raining here all day, miserable weather!!!! I popped to Sainburys this afternoon but not much there that I wanted!!! I did pick up some lovely wooden letters that spell out 'Home' which I intend to rub down and paint and maybe decoupage. They were reduced from £8 to £6.40
I did intend to make some cards but only got as far as putting DST on the card blanks and getting out the pad of design papers!!!!
Rusty - I think that is awful that the nursery let your 3 yr old go unaccompanied to the toilet. She could have slipped and fell and no one would have known. Why CRB checked staff aren't able to wipe bums is beyond me. They aren't allowed to put sun cream on either are they which is madness. I wonder if she'd not made it to the toilet and needed to be put in clean clothes what they would have done.
Hi Bunbun, I'm not making many cards but just pop in anyway!
Eager_Elephant - you could try using something like Anita's 3D Gloss to stick the flowers on. I find that sticks most things! The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -

Those letters sound lovely! I have just sent an email about some wooden shapes I am starting to think about christmas presents as my MIL has said this christmas it all has to be handmade!! ...
Well they are allowed to put on sun cream providing you send it in (allergies) and that you sign a form to say they have permission to do so!! I am going to have a word at the school tomorrow, I do understand that they have 30+ kids but even so there is something wrong somewhere.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
I'm just popping in,
Rusty I work in a preschool and all children are supervised when going to the toilet, we stand in the vestibule so we can hear them shout if they need help , and for the younger one we always ask if they need help, we use wet toilet wipes and wear gloves at all times when dealing with toileting issues, and we always change them if they are wet, and I am shocked that they wont help with trousers, some are so hard to do it would be impossible for a 3 years old to do them, and the doors are always open so that you are not alone with the child and can be seen at all times,
good luck with speaking to them tomorrow

I tuned into "gypsy wedding" for the first time last night after reading you all talk about it and was fascinated. I can't believe that they're so old fashioned when it comes to the roles of the women in their society. Everywhere I looked there were boobs on display and I couldn't believe the state of some of the older women. Definately going to tune in next week!
I managed to get my Mum's card finished yesterday but can't take a pic because my s-i-l has borrowed my camera. I really fancy buying some new stamps but can't make my mind up as to which ones to go for.
Flourgirl - I am really impressed with your boxes - I am hoping at making them - my lids are always either miles too big or too small.
Rusty - sorry to hear about Maddison - I really think its ridiculous these days how teachers aren't allowed to help the children, she must have been so uncomfortable bless her.
Bunbun - its great to hear from you - good luck with your money making ventures!
Artydoll - lovely Sarah Kay cards - the images are fab, and all your embellishments are so pretty - especially your quilling.0 -
Rusty and kms I can understand why you get annoyed with these people, expecting such tiny ones to do what some grown ups can't. (yep! worked with one or two that weren't as fragrant as they could be)
Go over everyones head Rusty, your primary concern is your little one and the way she is treated, stuff anyone who comments.
Was it a bird? No! Was it a plane? No! It was Bunbun! Nice to see you here:whistle: Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -
Rusty - I have to say that seems a bit ridiculous at school. What would they do if a child has a full on 'accident' I wonder? Send them home stinking?
Nice to see you BunBun
PONR- your sock critters are getting better and better
Flourgirl - your invites and box are stunning.0 -
Sorry another one who has been AWOL for a couple of weeks. Work has been busy, and had loads to do at home, so haven't made that many cards lately.
Feel a bit disheartened with cards at the moment, I made a basket of 40 cards for my friends toddler group, and she took them yesterday, but not one of them went. Not sure why, and the last time I did it, I sold loads, so will have to do a couple of boot sales and see if I can sell them that way.
A work colleague of my OH wants a valentines card made for his wife, so I am sending in one from my basket and hope it is OK, but a bit pee'd because my OH told him it would be £1.00 (he didn't consider the 2 1/2 hours it took me to make).
So I have cheered myself up buy finally winning an auction on ebay for a bag sealer. I've been after one for ages, and it arrived today and is fab. My OH is buying it for me as an early bday present.
Haven't read back on all I have missed, so hugs to all that need them, and I'll catch up and keep up with the thread a bit more.
xx2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
