    Best 0% deal is HSBC

Best deal overall (in my opinion) is M&S &more. 3.9% for life with no fee. That card is run by HSBC
  • My Husband has never had a credit card and is 61 years old. He has a really good job but will retire soon. I want him to get a card as I have £1500 outstanding on my Virgin card. When my 0% interest runs out I want to balance transfer this as I am a bit of a tart!. However, I no longer work and my husband has better credit rate then me as I am not an earner any more. Can he take out a card in his name and transfer my card debt over to his card. Do I need to put him on my Virgin card as a second card holder? I can do this no problem. But can he transfedr my debt over if he takes out his own credit card with a different company at the time mine runs out of 0% interest? Thanks in advance for any replies.

  • HSBC - crafty or what

My girlfriend and I both applied for the HSBC 0% on transfers until April 08 deal. We both have been accepted and cards already issued. Today we both received the same letter as follows:

    Dear Mr ***

Please be advised the copy of the terms that accompany your card contains the incorrect promotional period. Please disregard this promotional period, the correct information is set out below.

We would like to assure you that we are not changing your promotional rates, or any promotional period that you may be eligible for.

    Promotional Period = Until 1 January 2008

Please accept my apologies for the mistake.

    Yours sincerely

Surely this can’t be legal, the paper work I signed and returned stated April 08 on transfers I’m sure I photocopied it but can’t find it at mo to confirm.

Anybody else received the same letter?

    UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

The good news is I've just phoned HSBC and have been told this was an clerical error. They have been inundated with calls about this letter and confirmed that the 0% transfer deal until April 08 is still valid
  • I recently applied for an HSBC Credit Card. I am not impressed. I have been waiting weeks for this application to be processed. They say they have sent me a letter which hasn't arrived. In order to enquire about my application I can only ring between 9.00 am and 5.00pm on an 087 number. I spoke to someone I could not understand and they could not understand me. They said they would ring me back and as I work I asked them to ring me at work they would not take my number as it wasn't on my original details. I am now cancelling my application.
  • Looks like HSBC just welched on the deal ...

I Applied for the 15 month balance transfer on HSBC, got accepted got the card in the post earlier this week and then a letter arrived saying the terms that accompanied the card contained the incorrect promo period and that the 0% runs out at 1st January 2008, when the original agreement said 2nd April 2008!!!

  • Just phoned them and they confirmed they have had some issue, but my BT still stands at 2nd April 2008 :)

I have been with HSBC for over 30 years and have a premier account with them. So far they have taken 4 weeks to sort out if/when they will give me a credit card ( I don't usually bother with their stuff just keep them for when I need credit checks etc). I emailed them in the end and they sorted it out. But don't uses their 0870 numbers ,go on https://www.saynoto0870.com and look up their geographical number
