  • I have a 10 year (straight repayment) mortgage rate loan for £2800 with Nationwide.

Is it possible to somehow transfer this balance onto a 0% credit card as i want it gone quick (within a year).

I have looked for the best deals (HSBC and Morgan Stanley buy and fly)

I'm just not sure how to go about t.

    cheers

  • Help! I currently have 2 credit cards with a total of 4000 on both of them. I received a mailing from Citibank saying I had been pre-approved for one of their cards with 0% on balance transfers until Sept 07. I received my card yesterday and they have only allowed me 250 credit and only transferred 225 from one of my cards. When I spoke to them they said this was due to my credit scoring and that if I wanted to close the account I would have to ask my other card to transfer the 225 back. My credit scoring has suffered as I have been at Uni for the last 3 years but am now working and earning above average salary. Does anyone know if there are any cards more likely to overlook adverse credit? Should I try to apply for another card? I obviousley fell for the pre-approved line!!

    Hello!
I have the M&S&More card with the 3.9% life of balance deal. M&S Financial is a "wholly owned subsidiary" of HSBC. I am not sure exactly what this means in practice, for as an M&S card holder I cannot, for example, use HSBC's online or phone card services. I'd like to apply for the new HSBC 0% deal, but they specify that to be eligible, you must not already hold an HSBC credit card. Does anyone know whether the M&S card would disqualify me? I don't want to waste an application...
    Many thanks for any advice!

I applied for an M&S &more card, before I knew about HSBC owning M&S Financial. However I have both cards now, having received the &more one yesterday.:D

    Hi, all.(First posting)
I've just received my new M&S & More credit card, and immediately arranged a balance transfer over the phone. (I'd already set up a direct debit for minimum repayment every month.) Then I asked for the minimum monthly repayment figure to be fixed, at a higher amount of course, following Martin's advice. I was informed that I couldn't do that; the only amounts allowed by direct debit were the minimum monthly payment or the total amount outstanding. Any additional payments would have to be made over the phone by debit card (or by post, I suppose). (I think M&S are going to get into internet banking in the near future also, so that'll be another option.)
Are CC companies allowed to dictate the amounts of DD repayments? Doesn't seem fair to me
The credit card co. can only set direct debit payments at minimum OR full repayment. All you need to do is simply set up a standing order direct with your bank if you wish to set up a fixed sum regularly

    No

There are a few fee free 0% 6 months cards but not any longer.

HSBC is 0% until April 08 but is 2% fee which works out at £12. Not too bad in the circumstances?

I've applied for the &More card.
On the yellow copy of the agreement form it states: Total charge for Credit £524.31.
What is my credit limit likely to be?

    Thanks
    Trish :)

    Thanks for the reply.

But the card I'm transferring from (Lloyds TSB) allowed me to fix the DD at a higher monthly level, just by a phone call.

    Hi
What it the max account limit people have been given on the low rate life long balance transfer accounts?
I have a rate of 6.9% on my Amex at the moment, but would like to try to cut it.
I think this site is great. I recently found took up out income insurance based on a link from this site which I had never previously considered as I thought it was significantly more expensive.

    Thanks
    Tony
