    Hi
What it the max account limit people have been given on the low rate life long balance transfer accounts?
I have a rate of 6.9% on my Amex at the moment, but would like to try to cut it.

Sorry i'm not sure i understand the question?

M&S do a 3.9% life of balance rate if thats what you mean?
  • I have a £4k debt on a O% deal with a credit card ultimately owned by MBNA.
It ends mid March. How soon should I apply for the Morgan Stanley Buy and Fly Card so I can transfer it ?
One worry is that a couple of weeks ago I was turned down for the HSBC card offering a similar deal, despite having a superb credit record and a good salary.

Oh, I meant is there a cap on how much they will give you on the account? Of course they are not going to publish this so I am not asking for a definitive figure and I know it depends on personal circumstances, but I am just interested what is the maximum that people have got. eg £5K, £10K, £20K.
    Thanks
  • I just applied for this new card and got a great £8000 credit limit, I'm a happy bunny now I can tranfer most of my other debt :D
Application was online too. Its an MBNA card.
  • I cleared off the balance on my MBNA Platinum card, and left them to stew for a few weeks ;) .....When the letters started to pile in offering this and that, I phoned them - lied to the about how much another card (who I had not even phoned!:D ) had offered....(2.9% for life) and mentioned who offered it (they always react better - maybe the competition) and asked them if they could better it.

They came back with 0% for 6 months with a £75 fee.....I pointed out that the fee was a little heavy and was there anything they could do - she went away and spoke to a supervisor?! (maybe just put me on hold) then came back and offered to offset the £75 by giving me 0% for 9 months.....:j

MBNA are the only card who are THIS competetive - My Beneficial Card does not really negotiate on the rate but will on the Fee and Barclaycard will negotiate but not as well as MBNA.....
  • Hi,

Wat is the best balance transfer credit card to apply for, for someone who has not got that best of a credit history, been trying now to improve my credit history and have cut my debts to £250. this is all I want to trasnfer but before I cut my debt in half, I did miss a few months payments due to moving house etc.

    Thanks.
  • Careful not to try too many as they will all run a credit check on you and that in itself affects your score.
I Find MBNA as above best for negotiated transfers (although the fixed £75fee is a hardship)

I have only experienced Barclaycard, Beneficial(Not great negotiators) and MBNA, although I cannot remark on the credit score......

    £250 debt....thems were the days :)

Beneficial are sub prime lenders so aren't interested in offering good rates. MBNA as you say are the best for 'deals'
  • Thanks for your comments. I havnt yet applied for any cards. Got my current visa card interest cut, but still higher than I would like to be paying. Just dont want to apply for a card that I will most likely get turned down for.

    thanks again
