  • Self Employed query:

Hi. I'm just wondering if all of you mystery shoppers registered as Self Employed with HMRC before carrying out your first assignment? I have a friend who has been doing these for a while. I read about this on here as I'm thinking about starting myself, but the Self Employed thing has made me worry about her slightly. Better to own up or stay quiet? And what would the consequences be?!

    Thanks!

Sorry everyone for any confusion, CUE was a typo and it should have been CUS.

I realised I'd done it but then I got a knock on the door to say my little 1 year old cat had been knocked down and killed, so as you can imagine, I wasn't thinking of changing a typo on here.

A neighbour took him out of the road and came and told me as whoever did it didn't even stop . I wouldn't mind but I live in a really quiet cul de sac with a big circular green in the middle, and unless you live here or are visiting you wouldn't drive up here, so it's probably someone I know. There's some lovely people about aren't there .
    Oh Squidj
I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. You'd at least expect someone to find out who it belonged to wouldn't you?
  • Hello everyone.

Am having a day from hell and am desparate to cancel the two RE jobs that need doing today. Do they tend to get funny about last minute released jobs, or do you think I'll be OK. Don't want to push my luck as have not done that many jobs for them yet.

I have registered as self employed and declare earnings. I wouldn't like to face the consequences of tax evasion.

It's not that difficult to keep simple records and fill in a tax return each year.
Here I go again on my own....

Sorry to hear that squidgeum. Happened to us too a few years ago - the neighbour found our cat and brought her to us

QDOS - only had one job but it was very well paid. They like a lot of detail and they are very nice people.

Storecheckers - lovely ladies, very friendly and helpful if you get stuck. Average pay rates and reports need a lot of detail.

    Thanks Becles, sounds very nice.

Hi... that wasn't the question! Having read about it on here, I was going to give Mystery Shopping a go and register. What I was looking for was advice for someone who has already been doing this.

Hello. I think the rule states that you have to register as self-employed within three months of the end of the first month of self-employment.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong :D
