Ugh why are companies so shocked to learn that XX reimbursement for a crappy lunch isn't my idea of fun? and 80mile round trip to do this for no fee doesn't interest me?

They seemed shocked to learn that I want a fee!

In the expectation that you are grateful for the offer of "free" food?
  • I have sent my 1st report into RE and as i have just joined them can only do 1 job at a time but does that mean i have to wait till they prove read it and like sign it off?

Im asking as i have done the report yesterday and its not been done yet by them but i cant see any jobs yet.

Yes, and I think someone answered this for you this morning too. You have to wait until they've proof read it which could take anything from 10 minutes to two weeks. Once they've accepted it and there are no queries (this will be doubtful), you will be able to accept more jobs. This is only the case for your first assignment. Once you've passed that one, you can accept as many assignments as you like all at once.

I wouldn't pin all my hopes on RE assignments. They are rubbish to work for, their fees are really, really, really low, their reports are a nightmare, their website always crashes so you have to enter your report all over again - this happens a lot! And last but not least, the staff are incredibly STUPID.

You should start applying with other companies while you wait for your RE report to be approved.

Yup they need to proof read it first and approve it. Think of it from their point of view. If for some reason you had made a complete mess of the visit  (Not that I'm suggesting that for one moment :D) and then they gave you another job!!! Need I say more?

I somehow get the feeling that you are not RE's biggest fan :rotfl:

I'm starting to warm to RE, you know! Maybe it's because I work right next to the biggest shopping centre in Wales, so all their assignments are really, really convenient to me. I get to pick and choose a bit, and some are well worthwhile for a quick fee. Mind you, I will do a cheap one if it gives me a free lunch - I'd only be spending my own money on lunch otherwise.

One of their staff even phoned me today to offer me an easy one on my doorstep next week - I didn't even realise they did phoning people :rotfl:.

And their proofing queries just make me giggle .

  • I know but it was one of those money carrying vans which was blocking the whole front of the shop and a smaller van behind it saying "police observation" or some such. Anyway, the guy didn't want me taking any pics. He had the full bullet proof vest on and visor. I wasn't about to go against it incase I got arrested. I suppose he thought I was trailing his money van and wanted to rob it. I suppose it must have been suspicious as being a "Sarah Beenie" type - middleclass housewife. They are always the ones you see on Crimewatch. :rotfl:

    MG,
You could only do what you felt appropriate @ the time, thats the kind of thing they don't give any real guidance on & I would have done exactly the same as you:)

So you are their ideal shopper.;)

    However:
Do a time and motion study (1970's speak )
Time EXACTLY how long it takes you to:

    Search their site for jobs
    Allocate the job
Print the paperwork (+ costs for printing)
Going to the store (In your case the absolute minimum)
Doing the job (If you went just for lunch you wouldn't observe staff actions\replies\names etc)
    Inputting results
    Answering idiotic queries ;)

    Time taken XX
    Fee given.....XXX

    Now is it worth:eek: it

This is what I said earlier, taking everything into account it is much less than the minimum wage!
