Thanks, great find. Until I get on board skype, deals like this will be just fine.

Unless the other party is on skype also,Skypeout is expensive.

Your hyperlink for Call1899 should be: https://www.call1899.co.uk

But.. on your cheapest call webpage (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1095003038,99872,) ...you've programmed the hyperlink Call1899 to be: https://www.1899.co.uk ... which takes you to a complete different 'search' site. (I think this used to be the old web address)

I'm not sure why this is.. but it will confuse moneysavers!

Keep up the great work mate! :T Thanks for all the top tips.

https://www.1899.com is another correct version, probably where the confusion arises

BT dont have a minimum call charge anymore and have replaced it with a 3p connection fee (or setup fee as BT likes to call it).

This setup fee (connection charge) came into effect on 1st October and applies to all chargable calls.

Whole minute charging also came into effect as well (ie call charges are rounded up to the next minute so a 2sec call will be billed as 1min). Whole Minute Charghing, however, doesn't currently apply to 084x/087x numbers.

I hadn't heard of this, and being a BT customer I would have thought we would have been told about it. Going to check it out on the BT website.

I would also like to thank Martin and the team for the International and UK callcheckers. I have saved £1,000's using them. My international calls are normally priced at 0.5 to 1p a minute, so I dont worry even if I'm talking for an hour (30-60p) !!

  • Cheap Chat tells me the call will be charged at 3p/min and asks me to enter the number. I do (07971 xxxxxx), and there's nothing but silence - no message, no connection, nada!

    Anyone else getting this?

it takes about 30 seconds to connect. im not using it again.
ive tried to use it 3 times - first time, my OH couldn't hear me and it sounded like a bad overseas line; the second time, after the connection silence, it started reading the numbers i dialed back to me, and third time, his was phone was engaged, so i was charged anyway. 9p wasted.
