I realise that they are not the brides dress but thought I would share it anyway, I got my bridesmaids dresses secondhand and was thrilled with them. I found the ones I wanted in a shop for £180 each, but needed 3 in different sizes and I wanted the maid of honour's dress to be similar but different enough to distinguish her IFSWIM. I got the size 16 one off ebay for £40.00 with postage, and the 18 and the 10 from preloved for £130 the pair. they were all the same make (Dessy) and same colour (smashing purple) and the size 10 dress tied at the side rather than the back, enough to be similar but distinguish my MOH.
I feel really happy that I got all three dresses for the price of just one brand new one, and the £360 saved can go towards something else for our wedding, and the same can be said for buying a preloved wedding dress, why pay more when you dont have to? after all we are all here to save money....

    Hi
Just to say thanks for all your advice (and the interesting troll posts!). I went and bought the dress today, it was in perfect condition and to be honest I just paid the price she wanted because she was really nice had been v helpful. While we were chatting as she helped me get the dress on I found out she was a student, and I just felt I was happy to pay the price, and that she probably needed the extra money I could have haggled more than I do...

Prob and bit soft and not very moneysaving, but it felt right, and I am delighted with my "bargain" dream dress!!

    Thanks again!

Awww bless you I'm a student too and am really touched by your post (I'm a softie too lol).

My dress arrived today too and I am absolutely thrilled with it, it is absolutely perfect only things are a) it needs altered (which i already knew) and b) one of the press studs on the privacy panel needs some extra stitching in as its a bit loose other than that its brand new gown well worth what I paid would def do it again

Really glad you got what you wanted sounds like you both got a good deal to me :)
    xx

Glad you got your dress! I would have gone for a preloved dress is I had wanted a beautiful white/ light dress but I couldn't find any red ones :( Instead I have a gorgeous bridesmaids dress which I love and is very me!!! You have to have what you are happy with! I love to reuse things so what is wrong with a dress someone else has had! Too many people are too stuck up for their own good! It will look completely different on you to someone else and I bet noone asks if it is second hand!

    Well done!

Ha To be honest everyone will know is it is second hand, cos I have been asking everyone if I should do it or not!!! I don't care though - it will take a bit of altering to fit, but I have got 7months to do it!!

poppyscorner - thanks hon, I am a bit of a softie really, glad you are happy with your dress too, when u getting married?

marywooyeah - that sounds great! I only have to get a flower girls dress, so will look for second hand, but happy to pay full price now with the saving I have made on my dress...

    missknixon - I couldn't agree more!!

jenhug - taking round mum's later to show her so I'll see if I can get her to take a piccy - it's a bit big at mo, but you'll get the idea!!

But a man wouldn't say something like that as if they were going to wear the dress.

And I don't know any men who would say they are a bridezilla because they don't want anyone else to look nicer than them on the day.

Face it, you're only here to stir up trouble, so naff off.

What is the point in these people??

i got my maggie second hand off preloved because it was 1200 new, i got it for 350 and sold it for 150, good recycling. i got all my bridesmaids dresses second hand as well.off ebay.
  • Hi all

Just wanted to add that I bought my Maggie Sottero off Still White (stillwhite .co.uk) and had no problems at all. For those saying its dirty etc, it was professionally dry cleaned before I bought it (as most of them are) - so its as clean as a brand new dress. Either way, I was happy to save 50% off RRP.

I have found such a beautiful dress on ebay, but as it is custom made, I cant go to a shop and try the same one on somewhere else. I cant afford to lose the money if it doesnt fit/suit me and as she lives about 4 hours away from me, I cant justify the travel costs.

Its a shame there isn't a 'middle man' on ebay who will hold the money for them, while you try it out.

I'm gutted about the dress, but I really want to try it on first.

Going to the bridal show at the nec in March, so hopefully will see something there and be able to find it second hand after. I don't mind having a 'pre loved' dress.
Married the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!
