Beemuzed Sorry to hear that things are so bad.
DS is in a safe place now so try to recharge your batteries and get yourself well x (((((((((Hugs)))))))))

NPM (((((((Hugs))))))) for you and Noah. I must admit when we had trouble with DS at school I got really fed up with their strategies because none of them actually worked

Spent three hours at the hospital today - and this was an appointment that they had brought forward :( Consultant was running an hour late then I had to go to cardiology for a spiro and ecg so bye to another hour in there; after that was a blood test another long wait and the phlebotomist I got was useless and my arm is really bruised.

Sorry to be a moaning minnie but I really think the NHS has gone to the dogs.

jackieg I hope you get your DW soon, I have actually gone through three over the years and wouldn't have another one personally.

Bloomin' heck I've just read through my post and sound like one of those grumpy old women :rotfl:Hopefully I will be chirpier tomorrow x

    Sweet Dreams all x

  • I'm sorry I've been so rotten about checking in here. The OU has been keeping me really busy, then I had a heavy cold, then I had a health scare (which turned out to be non-life-threatening but might not have been) and then I got the cold again. Am on the mend now and trying to undo the damage I did to my financial situation over the past few weeks. For some reason, when I spend time on these boards I'm motivated and focussed on not spending but when I don't visit often I start buying !!!! like I used to. Does anyone else find that?

Today I've done some studying, had a bit of a tidy up and had a trip into town for stickers (reward stickers for studying - I'm a kid at heart) but that morphed into a trip to Poundland for ... whatever.

The house is an absolute tip as the cleaner hasn't been for the past fortnight and I've felt to rough to do anything about it. The dishes are up to date but the laundry is about to spawn a monster in the corner of the bedroom ...

Many thanks to Penelope Penguin for starting today's thread and all of you for participating.

You had quite a morning, Hardup Hester! I hope the rest of your day was much less eventful.

Hope your meeting with the headmaster went OK esmf73.

I love stocking up the freezer and 'nesting' on these dark days too, jaybee.

Don't know the story of the little dog, redruby, but whatever's wrong sounds nasty and terribly expensive!

Buying road tax is so much easier online, isn't it, nmlc? I hope your meeting with school went OK and DS is happy with the decisions made.

Essex-girl - What course is it you're doing? I'm just starting AA100 - The Arts Past and Present with the OU.

    ((((Hugs))))) to taplady.

Hope your visit to the dentist was quick and pain-free, jackieglasgow. I'm terrified of the dentist so you have my heartfelt sympathies.

I'm really impressed with your repair-work, RosyRed, and hope you're feeling better soon.

Have run out of time and need to head for bed now. Hope to see you all tomorrow.

  • Evening :D

Going to be absent for the next few days. It's DS's 5th birthday tomorrow, got family coming round once mindees have all been picked up. I have a tap show Friday and Saturday night, an early years conference all Saturday morning til 1pm, birthday party saturday afternoon and DS's birthday party on Sunday. My head is spinning with all the stuff I need to remember  I have done no housework this week (all spare time has been spent making DS's cake and going shopping etc) so next week will be on a mission trying to catch up :o

Tappers - Hugs to you and your DS xx

Beemuzed - Hugs to you and your DS xx

NPM - Hope the new strategies work for Noah.

Will try and catch up with you all next week. Hugs, spoons and high fives all round.

PS. JackieG - go for it and get a DW. I'd have one but I don't have any room in the kitchen for it so have to make do with H ;)
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks

Hi all, Hugs to all who need them today.

Persisting down here today and day off so got the bus over to a local shopping centre to meet Mum and Dad. We had lunch and she bought me a lovley M and S mac for my bday which is in a few weeks time. She is also going to give me money for a classic camel coat. Seen one in M and S but not in my size so will get it in town and she will transfer me the money. They are very kind and it's lovley to see Mum so well and able to walk all around in no pain. We had a good laugh as always.

Payday tomorrow and just under on GC so very chuffed. Will check what I get in holiday pay from my old work and may order a table top freezer tomorrow to help with OS in Winter.

Jackie I'd love a dw but my kitchen is tiny and like yours Flutterby is open plan. For now I'm stuck doing my own washing uo and wondering how such a wee person can generate so many dishes!

    Have good nights all XXX

  • :jhello chums, you all seem to be going through it this week, bless you all.i feel a bit awkward about being so upbeat.... but I will anyway.I had my arm therapy this morning and today is the day my sleeve was due to be delivered by DHL couriers.they of course turned up 10 minutes before I arrived home so I missed them. i phoned the depot and said please please please can he come back and the lady said it depends on how he feels:mad: i told her it was an important package which would make my life much easier but to no avail he never came back although I can't think he could have got very far.so tomorrow I will have to slog over to Aylsford about 15 miles away in the middle of the rush hour to pick up my tiny package that would have gone through the letterbox or my neighbour would have taken it in for me.Its only a small envelope type package containg my new sleeve for my arm which means I can get this blooming bandage off tomorrow :j:j:jStill at least its coming off at long last.I can't wait to be able to do the simple things in life again like cooking, baking having a shower, washing my hair even making my bed and washing up has become a thing thats done with one useless left arm.Tomorrow chums I will have two hands again:j:D:D:jEven though the day was grey and grotty looking i am now down to counting the hours till it comes off.
My DGD and DD had a bit of excitement last sunday.Holly (dgd) went into Superdrug at the local savacentre in Hempstead (a shopping mall) on Saturday afternoon and bought a bottle of perfume for about £12.She went back to work, she works in Blue Inc part time selling shirts and jumpers ect in the same presinct
When she got home that night she open up the sealed package of perfume and it was totally empty.Just the bottle with nothing in it .it didn't even smell of anything at all. On the Sunday morning she returned to the shop with the bottle and receipt and asked for a proper bottle .She assumed it had been a display packaged bottle that had been sold by mistake.sales assistant refused point blank to refund or replace the bottle .exit one deflated Holly with the empty bottle minus her 12 quid. She is on 17 and not a dishonest child.she phoned my DD in tears and told her what had happened. Now my eldest DD may only be a tiny little thing but she is very fiesty and if she thinks her child or in fact anyone is being conned she turns into quite a fiery person. She drove down to the shop and spoke to the sales assistant and asked to speak to the manager .Her arguement was that it had been sold by mistake and Holly was entitled to 'merchantable goods'(sp) and she hadn't received them.As such she should be reimbursed or replaced.Still a flat refusal from the shop .This arguing when on for about half an hour with neither side giving way.So Shelly refused to budge and stood by the door of the shop and everyone who entered she said to the new customers 'don't buy the perfume its a scam and all you will get is an empty bottle.'Sales assistants threatened to call security and so Shelley said O.K. go ahead ,you won't mind if I call the local newspapers then. deadlock. Then the manager said he would call the police ,Shelley replied 'bring it on I want my daughters goods that she has spent her hard earned cash on and I think if you refuse to give it to her then you are in breach and its 'common theft' rapid phone calls to head office and much mumbling and grousing from Superdrug staff but common sense prevailed and she was given a replacement perfume .so an hours argueing got her what she wanted.I don't think superdrug had come across as stubborn a person as my DD when she believes she is in the right.Quite a crowd had gathered to see all the kerfuffle and its not good publicity for a store to rip of a fairly broke student of 12 quid.
I am proud of my DDs stand on her principles as I know it sometimes take some stubborn to stand up for the rights of the shoppers.
a chip of the old block as I too have a stubborn streak if I think I am in the right.
Well I'm off to read a book on my 'Kindle' machine "Diary of a Nobody" looks good to me.I downloaded 18 free books last night.I am fast becoming a technogeek according to my DGD ben who thinks it a hoot that granny is so up to date.
    Have a good night everyone
    Cheers JackieO
P.S.I bought a spatchcock pousiin with a four pepper crust reduced from sainsbobs tonight for only 1.99 and it was beautiful with jacket spud and runner beans, with enough left over for tomorrow nights dinner which will be a salad probably . I love to try something different if its reduced then if I don't like it I haven't wasted much Last week I bought at Bluewater reduced two lamburgers with an apricot and cous cous topping and they were to die for so tasty and for £2.00. I got to dinners out of them with mash, veggies I budget usually for a pound roughly plus veg for my evening dinner.
