Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning  It's wet here, so no running this morning
Hope to get out into the garden (or polytunnel if wet
) later on. I now have a 5-day weekend :j and am home alone from Fri evening to Sun evening, so I'm going to tackle lots of the little jobs that have been hanging around
Will be decluttering today, and ruthlessly chucking, reclcling, e-baying, Freecycling, and charity bagging :T
We have friends comng for tea, so I'm making an Economy Gastronomy pasta dish, with lots of garlic
I also need to ice and decorate a chocolate cake I made.
Have a great Old Style day everyone :A

Morning all
Raining here this morning, not had a good start to the day, Trod in a pile of dog poo that had been deposited on my drive, I didn't notice til I walked it into the house & all over the door mat, thankfully the hall is ceramic tiles so easy enough to wipe up, changed my shoes, put the door mat in the washing machine after cleaning off the bulk of the mess, when the machine had finished I opened the door & it hadn't drained so my feet had an unexpected shower & I had to mop the kitchen floor, turned on the living room light to feed the fish & the bulb blew which in turn tripped the lighting circuit, so I had to drag a chair across the kitchen to reset the circuit box. All this before 6am, life just aint fair!! Can I go back to bed & try again tomorrow?
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Goodness Hester, I'd be tempted to hide under my duvet for the rest of the day! Hope your day gets better. Morning all, DS2 had two wet beds last night - so I have a duvet AND a sleeping bag to wash today and its "soft" weather outside! DS1 destroyed his bedroom last night, so is in there tidying up. Tumble dryer on (not very OS, but the only way I keep on top of all the drying in the wet weather), WM on, BM emptied, DW emptied so we're ready to go.
Will walk dogs today, after my meeting with the headmaster (OMG!!!!!!) and then have to make cakes and dinner. NO idea what we'll have yet - will see whats in the cupboard!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Oh dear!! I suppose that the day can only improve for you now!
It's rather wet and dark here this morning so I shall be getting on with some baking and soup making for the freezer. I love doing that on these dismal days.0 -
Morning all,
Pouring with rain here today, and its very dark, hope it clears up a bit later.
Off to work today, so will have a clean through the kitchen and put the dw on before I go. Rubbish needs to be put out too.
Dinner tonight will be carbonara, with the leftover gammon from the weekend, have frozen several other portions too.
We took little dog to the vets last night, looks like she is having to go in for the op on her bum, we have to go back in 5 weeks, and they will give us a price then, looks like it will be about £600 , which was a bit of a relief as she had originally said £1000, I have saved £300 allready, so we are getting there. Poor little thing though.
Hope everyone is well, and Hester I hope your day gets better xx0 -
Morning all
Damp and dismal here this morning. Did read yesterday but somehow ran out of time to post.
Still trying to be OS and follow the menu plan, so Mon evening had gammon, egg etc, mash, (pressure cooker not working properly) so part of the meal was cooked and I had to keep it warm whilst the potatoes finished cooking. Had received new part for the pressure cooker so took it apart and back together (eventually!) it didn't work properly so have spent another hour trying to work out why and if any of the parts are incorrect - have now decided to try to cook with it again tonight and if it doesn't work I'll either send it back or buy another! Last night's dinner was slightly varied as DS1 had Cadets so he and DS2 had scrambled egg on toast, DH asked for egg, bacon, etc and I'd planned for us to have sausages, so made him a "fry up", I had the sausages but then some mushroom cous cous with it. Tonight we are having roast beef, will do a full roast - hopefully with some leftovers.
Organised the car tax last night on-line, how much easier is that, think that queueing in the PO is going to be a thing of the past for me!
Have a meeting at school with DS2's teacher re some one to one tuition we've been offered for him, after school for 1 hour a week for 10 weeks, he's not all that keen but he really needs it and I'm hoping he will realise how good it will be for him.
Just have to work today until 12.30pm then days off, but am on my course for all day tomorrow and half day Friday, so that should be fun.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning Everyone
Hester - I have my fingers crossed for the rest of the day for you
Redruby - sorry about little dog. We spent £500 on our cat last year but worth every penny.
Many Thanks for DS' Birthday wishes yesterday, he had a good day, apart from going to school that is. Ended up chosing an Indian Buffet for his meal which was very nice.
Today am rushing through the banking so can get more ironing done before the course starts. Think I will have to pop into town and go to the bank after. OH is cooking dinner tonight though shepherds pie!
Not too much OS today though
still havn't got myself into a great routine with the course yet - didn't help that had 1 hour powercut halfway though yesterday. Anyway I promised that I am thinking OS thoughts :rotfl:
