he's still sleeping in the car seat lol. turns out he had bronchiolitous (sp?) which probably added to the reasons why he wouldnt lay flat as had really bad snuffles and chest! ive chosen monday as the day i will start the transition to the moses basket. will give all the ideas on here a go. i am so determined i WILL get him to lay flat if its the last thing i do. its just hard sometimes due to sleep deprivation but 4 weeks is long enough!
rach my one is the same he is so fidgety and wakes himself up if he has room to flail around!!0 -
someone told me to wait at least 6 minutes between them falling asleep and putting them down - if they're not properly asleep, the transition from vertical and snuggly to horizontal will simply wake them up. It's not foolproof - but it does help.
Other suggestions are a sleeping bag - it's cold at the moment and they do help avoid baby going from warm and snuggly into a cold bed. A sleeping bag just keeps them at the same temperature where every they are.
And the other one not mentioned is white noise - you can buy CDs or machines that play it constantly (google 'tinnitus masker', you can get one from the RNID for about £25) and it seems to send small babies into an instant sleep. Quite an expensive way of doing things if it doesn't work but when you're desperate!!!
It gets better. Hang on in there.0 -
My DS was very unsetteld at first and someone recommended swaddling, I bought a special blanket and it worked wonders so would definitely recommend this xx0

Please don't worry about making a rod for your own back. Your baby is far too tiny for forming habits!
Swaddling worked wonders with my girls, if he's had broncholitis perhaps try putting a book under the legs of the top end of the moses basket so that he is raised up a wee bit.
If you find he'll only sleep on you during the day then it may be worth investing in a good quality sling. My boy hates being put down somtimes so I pop him in the sling and just get on with what I'm doing.0 -
If he's happy in the car seat for now, let him sleep in it. I'm willing to bet that in a week - 10 days time, he'll sleep somewhere else.
Little babies change very quickly, just do what everyone's happy with and try and conserve a bit of energy.0 -
Lily didn't sleep anywhere but our arms for the first few nights, meaning we had to be awake so hold her. So DH did "crib training" for a day, whenever she fell asleep he would put her in the crib. We also made a wall of blankets which we put above her head so the crib seemed smaller.
It worked and she slept through from 8 weeks0 -
Try swaddling him , newborns get fidgty because of comfort , I found swaddling my ds really helped .ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0

mine is 11 weeks and still swaddled.. we are having a clingy mummy day today so she is swaddled and in my arms.. I think she is missing the sibling noise as they are not here. I used to swaddle one of mine in a top I had worn that day.. great excuse to get in your jammies!
I have a blanket over the crib sheet so the freezing cold mattress doesn't make her head cold. Tucked in like a sheet it is lovely.
She has slept through from day one other than a couple of disturbed nights when she has been snuffly. she does come in my bed for her morning feed though does usually stay in when she drops back off.
Try wrapping a blanket over him before you put him down it will soon be warm and snuggly and may settle him.
try changing the orientation of the basket or the position .. or try it in a different room entirely. It may sound crazy but this does make a difference!
