Help! Ebay buyer not collecting but paid.

I've been selling lots of bits of furniture.

One went on a Buy It Now for £20. It was collection only and cash on collection.

That was 10 days ago and the buyer has not been in touch. I sent a reminder every second day with no response. 2 days ago I issued an Ebay non-payer claim. The buyer then paid by Paypal within minutes and Ebay automatically closed my claim.

The buyer has not been in touch to pick up. I'm just wondering how long to keep it for him. I'm having a major clear out and want it gone. No wonder the professional sellers charge a storage fee if an item hasn't been collected within 48 hours.

What to do?

I would email the seller and give him a week to come and collect it, and inform him if he doesnt by said date you will be throwing it out lol

Personally I think you may be screwed. Had a similar thing on a table, I just wanted it out (was about £2), messed about on collection, ended in a refund and a neg.

I presume you will get a item not received notice soon. Seller probably doesnt want it.

Or they will collect it and then clain the item has not been received.

Either way you could lose out if not careful.

  • Exactly the same thing happened to me. Turned out the buyer was 200 miles away and didn't 'realise'. They paid so they wouldn't get a strike and I was forced to refund. Luckily they were co-operative and took back the refund minus fees. Have a look to see where they are located and it might give you a clue as to what's going on.

Just for next time - you can get your fees back by asking the buyer to agree to a cancellation.

I thought this would have been the best way but was advised by another member to open a NPB. Shouldn't have listened :doh:as obviously once the NPB had been paid I couldn't open a second 'mutual cancellation'.
  • Thanks for all your replies.

I did email last week to ask if he still wanted it or do a mutual cancellation but there has been absolutely no communication from the buyer.

Hence, I did the non-payer Ebay route following searches on this forum for advice.
  • The buyer is only about 10 miles away.

My other buyers have collected within a week. Some live further away.

Get contact details from ebay and call the buyer.

  • Can I get an item not received notice though?

I had it listed as collection only, cash on collection.
