Thank you for that - I've just checked and yes, the 30 day option is there! How could I have missed that before?!?

The trouble is unless you know something is there you don't go looking for it.

  • One of my Buy It Now items has just sold. It's a bulky item so I listed it as "collection only or could possibly send but please enquire before buying".

The buyer has immediately paid by Paypal and emailed to say she wants it packaged and she will send Hermes to collect.

Well, I have the trouble and expense of packaging and no tracking....

    Please advise.

Just refuse, insist buyer sticks to your terms and condition.

  • Thanks Soolin. I've done that now.

Meanwhile, a similar situation. Someone bid on a bulky collection only item. He then emailed to say he was sending his own courier. I expected a man with a van and asked the buyer to ask the driver to phone me 1/2 hour before arrival. Buyer said he can't and I have to be in between 9.00-5.30pm

Well, it's 3.00pm and UPS just turned up! They refused it because it isn't boxed.

Was never any mention of packing and it's too big anyway.

I believe that my recently revised Buy it Now collection only items are now sooo cheap that people are tempted evn though they can't collect and have to pay a courier.

I need help to discourage such purchasers!

The first thing to do is turn down people who say they will send a courier, or refuse to sell to them.

Is it clear on your listings that you will not accept a courier collecting?

This is one occasion where adding something to your listing doesn't hurt. Something near the top, so it stands out along the lines of 'Sorry but I am unable to accept couriers sent by buyers, if you are unable to collect in person then please do not bid'

I'm sure someone can reword that for you to make it sound better, my wording looks a little blunt.

"Sorry, but I am unable to accept couriers sent by buyers. If you are unable to collect in person, then please do not bid."

Sounds perfectly OK to me. Firm but fair.

  • Yes CQ, it says "Collection in person from (postcode). Cash on collection please."

Soolin, I will add a phrase as you suggest.
  • Back to post #34 above,

the buyer is now stating I should post this bulky item to her at my expense bec I made a mistake and the listing is free postage. She has confused Postage: None with Postage: Free P&P

and that she's entitled bec she has "one":o the item.

It sounds like you are selling your items too cheaply. Have you thought of offering a courier service yourself?
You could give a choice of pick up with no P&P, and a courier of your choice.
Or at least raise the price so that only people who can pick up would buy?
