  • it allows drivers to be less of a hazard on the road by telling you to go left or right, rather than you having to pick up the map whilst driving (and thus not looking where you're going....)

However, if you can read maps, like I can, it's just because i'm lazy :D

I tried to thank you but the button didn't work. I see your point. When we drive a long way there always tends to be two of us, but as you say it is alot harder if you are trying to drive as well.

I'm not knocking the gizmondo, cos I tried to get one when argos were selling them off, but failed.

But my solution was a spv m600 pda which was almost as cheap, in fact yes it was if you in market for a new contract mobile as well......and no cashbacks either!

but how much did you get a GPS unit for it for? or was GPS built in?

The gps was a Bluetooth version from ebay for £30, and having a seperate B/T gps is the best cos you get the best signal, and avoids problems with heated front windows. Also save battery drain on the spv m600i.

Soon all mobiles will have sat nav just as nearly all mobiles seem to have a camera now!

I just bought a Gizmondo for my Dad from Comet Swansea where they had 9 left, so I guess we all know our way around here in Swansea!

Anyone know where I can get maps for Europe for the Giz?

Ok I'll answer my own question here.

To get maps of Europe I need to abandon Copilot & install Tomtom 6 or 5.2.1 both of which I have...........

Maybe slightly off topic, but here's a yarn about the aftermath of gizmondo. Quite an interesting read:
