I feel so privileged to have started a multi-lingual 6 hr roasted pork thread :rotfl:

Lovely to see my old mates, DD thanks for posting xx

Thank you all so much for popping in :D

I cook pretty much from scratch every day, I shop every day in Mr Ts (this would get me chucked off the OS thread, I'm in denial about some stuff, but shopping habits hasn't kicked in yet :undecided)
    :eek::eek::eek: :D

I love to cook new things but am no masterchef, I have no creative side and so need recipes and love trying new things from all over the world.

The following was a throw-together-no-recipe 1 I did a few weeks ago when I didn't know what to do for dinner. I hardly ever measure anything, so there's no exact amounts.

    Soften/fry red onion & garlic
    Add minced lamb
Add about 4 tsp Schwartz morrocan spice (in silver tin) OR packet mix of lamb tagine
    Add water (or tomato juice)
Add fresh tomatoes (or chopped tinned)
Add dried apricots, chopped (Morrisons value are lush, Lidl the best!)
Add 1 or 2 tsp honey
Add tin of chickpeas (if wanted)
Bring to gentle boil, then simmer
    When cooked add fresh coriander
    I served with cous cous

    ENJOY :)

Goodness Dundee doll, that was quite some upbringing. you have no idea how lucky you are to just know the genders of words or whether you should use Akk, Nom or Dat,:eek::eek:

I think the 10-20 year range is very important in establishing identity and how you see yourself - I wonder about my own kids now, the older ones feel very 'English' but they've spent over half their years abroad and my littley has never lived in the UK - I suppose they'll end up feeling 'kinda international with and English edge'. Little one might think she's Swiss though:eek:

I remember trying to teach xOH some German and he kept saying but why is it Die Blume (the flower feminine)
I found the best way for him to learn was not to just learn the German word for flower ie Blume, but the whole thing ie Die Blume.

I am fluent in both, tho' better at english and you'd never ever guess that I'm 'not english' by talking to me.

Right, off for shower..........Night all x

Jo - please could I have your pad thai recipe ? I 've googled and comeup with allsorts of variants, I have the fish sauce, the noodles, the prawns...I need to know your method.

(ps slow roasted pork pencilled in for Sunday - is this my initiation task ?)

Yes you will need to pass the pork test before you will be allowed to move on to the Pad Thai :rotfl:

I use this Pad Thai recipe, probably not completely authentic on the ingredient front but tastes the closest that I've found so far :)

Chicken pie, mash and veg tonight, all cooked by the lovely Mr Pen again, bless him :)

That sounded nice Pen, did he make the chicken pie from scratch? I want to know how to make a chicken pie with a 'dark' gravy (iykwim?), I only ever make it with a bechamal (sp?) sauce.

Right, better dash off to work, leaving early today as having car MOT'd, had a total result, the garage that did my MOT last year whom come highly recommended by lots of my old work colleagues, it turns out one of the garage owners kids (family firm) went to the school that I work at and so they do a special service where I work, they collect the car from the school, take it away to service or MOT it and then bring it back for no extra charge :T

Hope you all have a fantastic day :D
