Thanks very much Dundee doll for that. I'm in Switzerland but very close to both France and Germany so I tend to shop over the boarders ( switzerland is super expensive). There's a really nice supermarket with a good meat section so i can ask there.
My kids have never had crackling.Trying to keep in budget.

Sounds lovely.
Well I'm not Swiss but it's really just German with a strong dialect so if you ever need any help with German translation, I'm here to help!Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

I am learning hoch Deutsch but it's very difficult - way too much grammar! i get by most of the time. They speak a very Strong dialect here and also over the border in France they have their own dialect which sounds very much like Swiss german - makes you realise how much borders and differences between people are quite artificial.
How come you speak German DD, do you have German roots or through education?Trying to keep in budget.

DC can't get on to lappy till morning so hope you don't wanna cook the pad thai tonight  ill give it to you tomorrow x
Lovely to see my old mates, DD thanks for posting xx
Thank you all so much for popping in
I cook pretty much from scratch every day, I shop every day in Mr Ts (this would get me chucked off the OS thread, I'm in denial about some stuff, but shopping habits hasn't kicked in yet :undecided)
I love to cook new things but am no masterchef, I have no creative side and so need recipes and love trying new things from all over the world.
If anyone knows how to cook an authentic curried goat I would very much appreciate you posting your recipe. Its OH's fav and I would like to do him a special birthday tea, thankfully its not till December :rotfl:
So, after that grand post, OH didn't want anything special for dinner so, for the first time ever, I 'made' pastie, chips and beans:rotfl:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

I don't think this is the same as Jo's version but I am sure it is lovely as well."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Yep, German roots.........ALL my family are german.
I was born in Hamburg (North Germany so Hoch Deutsch) but moved to UK at a couple of months old. Then went to school in Hamburg from 6-11, back to UK. Back to Germany (south near Coburg, where Prince Albert was from) - couldn't understand a word :rotfl:)for 6 months at 21, back to UK and then back to Coburg from 31 - 33 and finally back to UK.
Have always thought of myself as english and considered England my home tho'.

Goodness Dundee doll, that was quite some upbringing. you have no idea how lucky you are to just know the genders of words or whether you should use Akk, Nom or Dat,:eek::eek:
I think the 10-20 year range is very important in establishing identity and how you see yourself - I wonder about my own kids now, the older ones feel very 'English' but they've spent over half their years abroad and my littley has never lived in the UK - I suppose they'll end up feeling 'kinda international with and English edge'. Little one might think she's Swiss though:eek:Trying to keep in budget.
