I have to tell you that my favourite place to eat out at the moment has got to be Jimmy Chungs. It's an all you can eat chinese buffet and I have never been dissapointed with the food there.

Retaurants in Aberdeen, Inverness and Elgin, I am sure there are other places that have them, but these are the ones I know about.

Lunch is from £4.99, depending on the day you go and Dinner is from around £12.99.

The one in Union Street aberdeen is always very busy no matter what day I have been in for lunch, so booking is advisable if you don't like to sit at the bar and wait for a while.

Jimmy Chung's is very good; I also like the following restaurants, 'cos they do "exactly what it says on the tin", in terms of decent and decently priced food:

ITALIAN - Panino's, in George Street, and Mediterraneo in St. Andrew's Street.
INDIAN - The Jewel In the Crown, Blue Moon (1 and 2) and The Light of Bengal.
CHINESE - Yangtze River in Bridge Street.
OTHER - Shelly Leigh's does a nice turn in British staples, e.g.steak, chicken, fish etc. Goulash in the Adelphi is a fab little East European eaterie.

For places to avoid, La Scala (overpriced, overdressed food), La Tasca (a franchise tapas/paella restaurant, whose food has left myself, and others I know, firing on all cylinders afterwards) and Halo(delicious, but overpriced, and tiny portions).

Has anyone visited the Eating Room on Great Western Road yet? And is there a thread for cheap eats in Paris?
    When in doubt, make soup.

We had the best fish and chips at a pub in Craill. Sorry I can't remember the name but it boasts to be the oldest pub in Scotland. Afterwards, I was told most of them claim that. It was pretty reasonably priced as well.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Stavka on Sauchiehall Street, close to the King's Theatre is very good and INCREDIBLY good value. A freshly baked 12" pizza is only £5 and they don't overcharge on the drinks either. The Daily Record gave it 6 out of 5 (yes really) for value. Mainly pizzas, pasta and salad dishes, but with Russian names.
