Eating Out in Scotland

Retaurants in Aberdeen, Inverness and Elgin, I am sure there are other places that have them, but these are the ones I know about.
Lunch is from £4.99, depending on the day you go and Dinner is from around £12.99.
The one in Union Street aberdeen is always very busy no matter what day I have been in for lunch, so booking is advisable if you don't like to sit at the bar and wait for a while.
Jimmy Chung's is very good; I also like the following restaurants, 'cos they do "exactly what it says on the tin", in terms of decent and decently priced food:
ITALIAN - Panino's, in George Street, and Mediterraneo in St. Andrew's Street.
INDIAN - The Jewel In the Crown, Blue Moon (1 and 2) and The Light of Bengal.
CHINESE - Yangtze River in Bridge Street.
OTHER - Shelly Leigh's does a nice turn in British staples, e.g.steak, chicken, fish etc. Goulash in the Adelphi is a fab little East European eaterie.
For places to avoid, La Scala (overpriced, overdressed food), La Tasca (a franchise tapas/paella restaurant, whose food has left myself, and others I know, firing on all cylinders afterwards) and Halo(delicious, but overpriced, and tiny portions).
Has anyone visited the Eating Room on Great Western Road yet? And is there a thread for cheap eats in Paris? When in doubt, make soup.0 -
We had the best fish and chips at a pub in Craill. Sorry I can't remember the name but it boasts to be the oldest pub in Scotland. Afterwards, I was told most of them claim that.
It was pretty reasonably priced as well. Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Stavka on Sauchiehall Street, close to the King's Theatre is very good and INCREDIBLY good value. A freshly baked 12" pizza is only £5 and they don't overcharge on the drinks either. The Daily Record gave it 6 out of 5 (yes really) for value. Mainly pizzas, pasta and salad dishes, but with Russian names.0
