    And in Edinburgh too :j

I am not a lover of chinese food but have had a great meal there and hoping to go for an early tea-time meal there next Wednesday.

    I've been Money Tipped!
The Rocpool in Inverness, just across the river on the corner. I haven't aten there myself but everyone I know who has eaten there raved about the place and it has a very good reputation. Check out this website if you want to book which is recommended. I often see the little silver and blue Smart Car running around town emblazoned with "The Rocpool" all over it so perhaps they are a secret MSE fan. -

Also, Girvans is good on Stephens Brae in Inverness. -

The Mustard Seed has a good reputation also.

    re: inverness.

There is the glenmoriston which is very nice. Its just on the river ness. Expensive, but very good.

As said, Girvans is good, but for a lunch or light snack.

The rocpool is ok, but its a tapas bar, if you like that sort of thing.

The mustard seed is good, can be a bit pricey, best going for the pre-theatre or lunch menu.

For lunch there is cafe #1 on castle street, its very nice. Also across the river around the corner from the rocpool there is barbazza, its good for lunch too.

There is zanzibar restaurant which was very nice, but im not sure if it is still open. Its almost just above girvans. Quite expensive again, but worth the money.

 I must tell you about this wee restaurant...I just can't keep it to myself but it has the most wonderful array of dishes on its' menu, everything is home cooked and baked...I have been a few time and they do set menus ...I can recommend the steak pie or lasagne..and the sweets well they are to die for . The bread and butter pudding was the best I'd ever tasted . The portions are excellent too but maybe just a tad too much, as the last time I was there I had to leave a bit of my pud and believe me that was hard to do. Hope this helps your wee list .

Just to let humancoin know-Rocpool also do a very good dinner menu as well as Tapas.
Nico's Bistro in the Glen Mhor Hotel is excellent-we enjoyed a fantastic meal there a couple of months ago.
Girvan's have become a victim of their own success-surly staff, dirty floors and overpriced food. Avoid unless you enjoy being fleeced!

    Oh-and since I'm a native of Ayrshire-may I recommend Fins,just outside Fairlie? Great seafood.
Braidwoods between Dalry and Saltcoats is fantastic-a Michelin star, and well deserved!! Not cheap, and a long waiting list for a booking, but absolutely first class-a great place for that celebration meal!

Shame what age does to your memory-I meant to add the Blair Inn(between Lugton and Irvine A736 I think) Great local food, reasonably priced.
