Same here - everywhere else that I have opened accounts at has managed to verify me electronically, but Natwest couldn't do it, so I needed to take in paper copies.
I can't agree with the first four words of your statement though - Natwest are a painful organisation to deal with. (Although not to the extent that I won't be opening one of these accounts...! Savings are fine, I just wouldn't trust them with my current account, as they've made too many mistakes with me and just have a poor reputation in general).0 -

Same here, I applied for a joint account, this is the hold up. However our current account is also joint, so it is bizarre that I have to wait for the pack. Although they probably want to make sure we both want it.
Anyone applied for a joint esaver and can see it online yet?
I'm a little annoyed as it means the account won't be 'open' untill Oct, which means waiting till 15th Nov to deposit some money. :cool:0 -
I've been a natwest customer for over 20 years but have never opened an online a/c - until now I've used their telephone banking system. However, I've just received some money and saw the thread about the esaver a/c so I went for it and, with some reservation, have registered online and have given up my monthly paper statements. During the application process I had an online chat with natwest who confirmed that I don't have to wait until 15 October to earn the bonus.
I've no connection whatsoever with natwest but have to say I've never had a problem in all the years I've banked with them. That said, I'll wait to see about this esaver a/c.fitzroy0 -

You could be right and to be sure I will track it but as I said 20 years and so far no problems.fitzroy0

FWIW I just asked the online advisor, and got the version that if I open in October, I start earning bonus from 15th November, and bonus is paid at end of each month.
I'd definitely say the answer to the common question on the web is misleading : I still read it as you get paid the first bonus on the 15th of the month after the month of opening.
(Does this mean we only earn bonus for 11.5 months, rather than 12 months ? First bonus payment is 15 day's worth of bonus.)0 -
I am an existing current account/online banking customer. I opened the account yesterday, and it is showing online today. I transferred some money over from my current account this morning, which showed immediately in my e-Saver, however the £1 opening balance is not there yet._____________________________________________Mortgage 1 £80k paid off july 2014Mortgage 2 £213k paid off May 20210

During the application process I had an online chat with natwest who confirmed that I don't have to wait until 15 October to earn the bonus. This is in complete contradiction to all the information given about the account on the website; I'd be very suspicious if I were you.
Having re-read it, I'll take this back.
I'm thinking the same way as psychic teabag now; it sort of suggests that maybe the bonus is perhaps active immediately, and is possibly paid on the 15th i.e. in theory separate to your normal interest. That might mean that if you open and fund it on the 1st of October, you may or may not get 12.5 months of something approximating the bonus interest rate.
There - I hope that's cleared everything up.0
