I am interested where it says from account opening , as I opened mine on 05/10/2010 of which I attracted a 1% from 05/10/2010 to 14/11/2010 . Only until 15/11/2010 my 2.85 % kicks in but my interest only lasts till anniversay date which is 04/10/2010.
so that means i am missing 1 months interest so i only effectively got 11 months interest.
can you provide me with this screen shot on imgshack or something?
The people who've been short-changed are those who, on the basis of the website statements saying "Get a bonus of 1.85% Gross for 12 months from account opening." etc., reasonably expected to get the bonus from day one and so transferred funds in immediately.
I've got an HTML file for that page as at 13/10/10 and can email it if you give me an addy.0 -
They are trying now to contact me by phone. I would like them to state their position in writing so will ask them to do that.
They should have the courtesy to reply to people using the same method of communication they used. There is also a record of what was said.
Edit: bearing in mind, they have to resolve/"final response" the complaint in a certain timescale. I doubt "we tried to phone the customer" would wash with the ombudsman.0 -
okay
i got really screwed with this new Natwest Saver
ive just lost 6 weeks Bonus interest.... thats a lot on 45,000 pounds...
i applied on the oct1st - and thought Bonus would start on the 15th

Natwest - i have banked with for over 20 years...
i never really liked them and avoid using them - but they got me again with this esaver..
i will be closing all my accounts with them after this sneaky attempt. I really have no love for this bank..
and have been a loyal customer for 20 plus years...
They are sly... i have switched about 17 esaver accounts since Kaupthing went down... and no one has ever been as sly on the wording as NATWEST..
not impressed...
now i have to wait until nov15 (6 weeks after transfering everything)
just to get my bonus to BEGIN...

Just to say that there has been a deafening silence from Nat West since I emailed their online helpdesk withthe info that Rollinghome kindly supplied.
Should I maybe folloow it up with a written letter? To which address, I wonder.0 -
PS I know it's been shown before, but worth repeating this from their much-vaunted (current TV commercials etc) Customer Charter –
"4. We will help you to make the right choices for you and your money, providing a clear product range with simply explained features and charges."
Couldn't be further from the truth...0 -

Possibly the Nat West Customer relations Unit detailed here.

I think it is a good idea and only fair to give them a chance to resolve things informally. Either phone them or email them again and ask them to respond by x (perhaps next Friday). explain you are keen to resolve things with minimum of fuss but if they don't reply by x you will write in with full complaint details and ask for full written response.
If they don't respond by x then you fire off a full letter including a paragraph to say you would like "your interest from day one plus a payment to cover your expenses in having to take this to written complaint level having given them the chance to sort things informally". Don't specify the amount of the payment they are usually quite generous when it gets to this point and asking for a large amount is a bit tacky and can work against you.
The fact that you have given them the chance to deal with it and they haven't, forces them into the position of having to make the recompense payment as well as paying up the interest and that will also help if you end up having to go to the ombudsman.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
Although I have not anything to say at present I would like to follow this thread. Seems I have to make a comment to do this0

I have revceived another letter from Natwest. They say that in light of new information in my last letter, they are reviewing the case - despite previously saying they do not uphold my complaint. My last letter contained no new factual information as it merely repeated my claim. I did though refer to the British Bankers' Association Code on the advertising of interest bearing accounts - something they should know and abide by so that is hardly new information.

I was told by NatWest Call Centre that my bonus interest would run from the 15/11/10 to 15/11/11, so I'd check it with them rather than your branch.
I know RollingHome has offered you the HTML, and I believe posted links to the Google Cached pages. You'd be better off with the Google cache, as HTML can be altered, Google cache should be here:

There is one big problem with the Nationwide account. The interest has to be paid into the linked bank account and cannot be paid into the savings account itself. Therefore, unlike other accounts, the monthly interest is not compounded. It is paid into the linked account, then has to be transferred from the linked account back into the Nationwide account. Think how much interest is lost transferring from a to b. I cancelled my application when I realised...
Where do you get this from? There is no 'linked' account. You don't need any other NatWest Account to open it, you pay money in by BACS / Faster Payments & pay it out by setting up a payee in NatWest, once you've got your Card Reader, card, pin, etc, etc................
It says on the Google cached page, 'interest paid directly into your account'. Though whether NatWest actually created that page is in some doubt!
