I declare an interest as a professional Will Writer - people really don't want to protect themselves with an UP TO DATE and regularly reviewed Last Will.
Lasting Powers of Attorney are even more crucial, but most people haven't even heard of them!

PS My "pett" have is paying to park in a Hospital car park when I take my boys to A&E!!!0 -
i agree hospital parking should be free, it only adds stress to the patients and visitors when they dont need it, but i think a valid point would be that ahem "lady products" should be free either from gp, chemist etc just like how condoms are...0

I don't object to paying. If we didn't pay, the revenue would have to be raised some other way. Raising it through parking ensures that the people who actually use the hospital pay, which seems reasonable. But I do object to two other aspects of hospital parking:i agree hospital parking should be free.
1) Pay & Display. It's almost impossible to know how much time will be needed, when visiting as an out-patient, so I always pay for several hours, just in case. Sometimes, I'm out in 15 minutes, wasting a lot of parking money.
2) Non-transferable tickets (you can be picked up on CCTV and fined for giving your ticket to someone else). Surely it's the space that is paid for, not the car? If I pay for 3 hours and leave after 15 minutes, why shouldn't I be allowed to give my ticket to someone else and let them park in "my" space? As it is, if I leave after 15 minutes, the next person pays again and also leaves after 15 minutes, and so on, several people could be paying for the same space at the same time!
Pay on exit would be much fairer and solve both of those iniquities.
One other thing - it also seems very unfair to make hospital staff, generally not the best paid workers, pay to park.0 -
I also hate paying for hospital parking. If you have someone ill in hospital for a long time it can really add up.
I also resent paying for the 'pay to view' TV's that they have in hospital now. I feel this is grossly overpriced (about £5 a day) and is unfair for those people who are in hospital for a long time, living on a pension and may not have many visitors.0 -
Council Tax, my local council have just discovered they have 40 million pounds they didn't know they had....40 MILLION, you couldn't
make it up with these jokers

This is my FIRST post, I have to wear sun protection factor, the higher the better, but have found Nivea Lighter factor 50, I think it is quite new but it is what it says, its a lighter formula. Its expensive in the middle of the summer but cheaper this time of year when the shops want to get rid of some of their stocks.0 -
Motorway service station cafe/restaurant prices - exorbitant - it's not as if the coffee/food is that good either.0

That is in part because of the government rents (tax) and limited availability of motor way service areas (compare France).
There was a move about twenty years ago to allow private enterprise to build new service areas - methinks the Treasury realised what that would do to the rents they are getting and it never happened.

Home and contents insurance - full of exclusions, so about the only thing you're covered for is if your house burns down! Can't believe they charge extra now for cover for accidental damage - this is what contents insurance is for.
Extortionate rip off prices anywhere where you're captive audience / customer i.e. airports, cinemas and theatres, hospitals. there is no excuse charging twice as much as standard for a cup of coffee just because you're the only available cafe. (We don't use them, but if the price was reasonable we probably would - how many more people are like us?)
Don't really mind paying income and council taxes as am part of society, but hate seeing my taxes wasted on silly initiatives which cost a lot to set up, then no-one uses.0 -

Err, no, it isn't. Contents insurance covers you against, theft, fire, flooding, etc. Most companies have always charged extra for A.D. cover.Extortionate rip off prices anywhere where you're captive audience / customer i.e. airports, cinemas and theatres, hospitals. there is no excuse charging twice as much as standard...
Well, actually, there probably is an excuse or at least a partial excuse. For example, rent, wages, etc., are usually much higher in locations like airports. Cinemas and theatres are a bit like low-cost airlines - they charge high prices for 'extras' so that they can keep the seat prices low. And shops in hospitals have low turnovers, so have to charge high prices to cover their costs.0
