  • Afternoon everyone

Not raining here yet anyway. Ds2 went on his school trip this morning, I hope he goes on okay.

Also at the weekend we got a chocolate Labrador, we have called him Buttons. We picked him as he was the quieter of the 4 left. He has been brilliant so far. However he is 15 weeks old. Will post pics as soon as I get some. He drinks loads of water but isn't very dignified, ends up dripping water all over kitchen floor!! So my os today will consist of mopping floors.

Tea will be pizza and jacket potato. Lunch was ham sandwich.

Csarina - glad your dh is ok and that you manage to get some rest.
JackieG - your light fitting is lovely. Hope you are feeling brighter, as others have said just take 1 day at a time.
Jackieo - not much longer with the bandages, your therepist sounds lovely.
Falady - hope you are doing ok with Katie.
NPm - hope Noah goes on ok at school today.
Adleight - good luck with the job

enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care.

    I am shattered !!

I thought had done most of the crab apples yesterday, had them hanging in home made jelly bags ( old net curtain :rotfl:) overnight, and today made 7 chilli and crab apple jelly, 3 crab apple jelly and 6 crab and mint jelly, I thought I might as well do the rest as there were only a 'few' left, well there was b****y loads, more than yesterday, so have got those hanging in jelly bags in my utility, so will make more tomorrow, it will keep us going for months :rotfl:

Also made a pasta sauce with toms and corgettes form the garden, which I have frozen, peeled and chopped a carrier full of apples, peeled the spuds for tonight, prepared the veg, and chopped the rest of the gammon into portions.

Have also hoovered through, mopped floors and done a wash, and I am going to do nothing but sit on the sofa and do nothing for the rest of the day !!

Jackie G I love your light, I would love something like that, take it easy my darling xx

Csarina hope you and OH are ok xx

Curlytop, hope your treatment has worked and that the spotting is nothing xx

Cranky hope you re ok xx

    Have good afternoons all xx

    Afternoon all,

Nothing much going on here, spent the rest of my September grocery budget on nice lamb chops and a large beef roast which I will cook later in the week....decided to give myself a treat!

Lovely day here to-day, washing on line, been to knitting group....one of our liveliest members is going off to the west to live at the weekend....her daughter lives there so she is going to try it for 3 months, separate house and is not selling her own in case she doesn't settle. She is rearing a grand-daughter who is about 7 whose mother died when she was tiny so will be a big change for both of them. We will miss her bright and cheery chat at our meetings.

Lamb chops, turnip and potatoes for dinner, ice cream and blueberry syrup for pudding, too mean to take cake from freezer, might make more to-morrow.

Jackieg...good to see you posting, take care of yourself.

Hugs to all in need or want

Turns out the handle on patio door had been put on the wrong way round so just as well we needed to replace it as the new one will be more secure. DH not happy £80 gone down the drain but now thinking of replacing other handles and locks later to make house more secure.

Went to Aldi this afternoon as DD(24) wanted a chair for her room and one she liked elswhere was £99 which seemed dear for a tub chair. Aldi had a bentwood chair with headrest so she got that for £29.99 and is really pleased with it.

I got some veg, fruit, cheese, milk, eggs, stuff for lunchboxes and mince, chicken etc for freezer as it is nearly empty.DH saw all the garden stuff and ended up getting a loader thing on wheels for £20, then a hedge trimmer, grass trimmer and garden shredder. He ended up spending £200 and is very sheepish indeed!!!!! We did need the stuff and it was a good buy so I reassured him and told him not to worry.

Don't think he will be saying anything if I go shopping for winter trousers etc tomorrow for myself;)

Making herby chicken thighs, roast potatoes and parsnips, onions and peppers with cabbage for tea. Might need to put central heating on and work out how to turn on our radiator in the bedroom as it is getting cold.

    Hi all

Just taken me an age to catch up with the last couple of days!

:T:T:T:T:T I'm really missing having a dog around the place - keep hoping for an email to say there's one wanting a holiday soon.:D Enjoy Buttons; he sounds delightful.

Salopman I remember you posting here a while ago - welcome back!

Jackieg nice to see you back. Like others have said, just take a day at a time..... hell, take an hour at a time if need be!

There's a CAMRA branch meeting tonight, but I'm going to send Mr LW on his own; I really don't feel well enough to sit for 2 hours plus in a freezing cold back room (I have experience of meetings at this venue, so I know what to expect), but we need one of us to go as someone should have put by a copy of the new Good Beer Guide for us (we didn't go to the GBG launch meeting as it clashed with a Mensa meeting, also I refuse to go to the pub it was held in since the landlady was appallingly rude to me last time I went there).

Dins is going to be pasta in cheese sauce, as I need to do something I can make on autopilot. There's a wee bit of carrot'n'orange cake left, so we can finish that up by way of pud.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Afternoon everyone

Went to Drs this morning and she has said I am doing well but need more rest and signed me off for another week. Rang work, was told someone would come round for my cert tonight, I know its a small firm and one person being off makes a difference but it makes me feel like they are not believing that I am ill, Dr has had report from hosp and the abscess was much deeper than anyone thought, and after my experiences with the walk in clinic at the weekend my dr has put my care back to the district nurses, so they will visit me and I do not have to go through the 20 questions at the walk in again. Walk in could not understand why I didn't have stitched, why it was done under general etc etc Have to say it was only the workers over the weekend, the ones last week were lovely.

OS wise, no washing to do today, just a couple of bits, not enough, DW was emptied last night. Have managed to get hoover round and dust a bit. OH not home tonight so not sure what I will eat, something out of the freezer or a tin of emergency soup I think. TBH I do not have much of an appetite at the moment and the anti B's are doing their usual thing of removing anything I eat at a great rate:eek:

Csarina – hope OH is ok and you have caught up on your sleep

    Jackie – love the light

Butterfly Brain – glad you enjoyed your meal. Know what you mean about payday, mine wasn’t good this month and not looking good for next month either OH told me before he went work today, don't worry if you get signed off again, we will manage, we always do - hmmmm yes we do but it means me doing lots of juggling!

Elona – we bought a repossession house and although front door was ok, think the lock had been replaced, didn’t check the others, kitchen door and patio door had been super glued, luckily someone we knew came round and squirted some supa dupa stuff into the locks, we did replace them later…..cos you never know. I also got OH and DSD ‘tick’ off meals they liked as I was fed up with cooking the same stuff. Wasn’t a surprise really OH wouldn’t tick anything that was remotely spicy and DSD just kept putting a ? by things as she didn’t know what they were. Should have stuck pot noodle and cup a soup down for her ( I know that’s a bit catty, but it annoys me when for example I have cooked something and she says, you can buy this in Morrisons you know)

Candy- a man that cooks – hang onto him :rotfl:

Best go now otherwise I will win the longest post about nothing for the month :D

    Have a good evening xxxx

    Hello, may I join in?
I'm generally a lurker who's not around a lot in the day, but I'm off sick currently and although I've always been a 'make do and mend' girl at heart, it's taking on more significance the longer I'm signed off and heading towards half-pay, so as well as trying to recover my health, I'm trying to recover a more frugal lifestyle (we're not big earners or spenders) so for us being more frugal means getting best use from what we have and making more time to enjoy it.
Today's action towards this involves spending a bit but it will hopefully save us: we have organised to have the cavity walls filled and the loft insulated on Friday! Any advice on how to help the puppy cope with the sound of the drill, he was terrified during just the test hole today, not sure he'll manage half a day of it on Friday (not sure it'll help my tinnitus either)!

  • Welcome Habibiboo, everyone is really friendly on here. I have had loads of candles on this afternoon, it is surprising how much heat they provide, I refuse to put the heating on yet!

Topsy, enjoy your new puppy, I can't wait to see photos! x
Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!
