I can't find mention of the Leeds 7% account anywhere. Is this no longer available?

Wouldnt the A&L reg saver be a good/better start than lloyds?

Using the Premier Direct Current Account?

If you see my earlier posts, I opened all 3 accounts I have had with them by post. Never been to the branch. You have to check on which ID they require, but they send you a list. Very friendly set uip.

The lloyds account is more flexible in every way, the only downside is that the interest rate is not so generous. The best feature of the lloyds account is that you can bung in £500 as an opener and it runs for two years (meaning a nice average balance in year two, ie interest on the whole £3500 from year one plus deposits)

HiLipidicman So do you mean that you can make more from the Lloyds saver over two years than the A&l 10% OVER 1 YR?

It all depends on how you use it (ie fed from another saver, earned income etc). A major drawback of these accounts is that they 'empty'. A fairer comparison would be 'can you make more money from the lloyds saver over two years fed from a saver vs two years of the A&L account fed from the same saver'

For me the calculation is not worth doing (I have both accounts). If you want to see how it is done for the lloyds account credit must go to milarky:
