UPDATED 22/11/12: Easyjet flight 8668 Cancelled (24/09/10) Compensation help...

Was due to fly from Alicante to Gatwick on flight 8668 on 24/09/10, but flight was cancelled. I received a text message at around 4.30pm about cancellation and we was at the airport by 5.30pm to arrange alternatives with easyjet. We was informed the plane had technical problems.
We got booked on flight 2228 on 25/09/10, ~27 hours later, to London Luton. Easyjet arranged travel to and from local hotel for the night, and no payment was made.
Now, from my understanding i should be able to claim for:
We have receipts for everything. Easyjet flights were leaving on time before and after our cancelled flight.
How likely am i to get this given the length of delay and disruption caused?
And what is the best process to claim? Online form? Recorded delivery post?
Thanks in advance!

Now, from my understanding i should be able to claim for:
- 250euro compensation per person
- Food expenses for evening at airport 24th, and during day 25th.
- Travel from Luton to home (picked up by family, but have parking receipt) ~150mile rount trip

Id write a letter and send it recorded delivery.
Email/ online form is ok as long as you can verify proof of receipt.
Good ol fashioned Royal Mail carries more weight IMO0 -
If you were picked up by your family rather than using public transport you won't be able to claim for that, but you should be entitled to claim the rest.0

First thing is to e mail them and get the reason for cancellation from the horse's mouth.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

....you will almost certainly have to force a small claims hearing in front of a judge to receive what you are due.
...... in preparation for any legal route you might have to explore, check whether your household contents or travel insurance policies has legal expenses cover as one of the benefits of such a policy. Far better for a solicitor to conduct your claim on your behalf if funded by such legal expenses!
Cityboy is spot on here, it takes a fight to get compensation.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Ive emailed Easyjet for an official cancellation reason.
And checked my travel insurance and legal expenses appears to be covered so thats all good.
Given a valid reason for cancellation, can i just go to my travel insurers and get them to do everything? Or are they only used if/when Easyjet refuse to play ball?
Thanks0 -
Have a good read of the small print, some travel insurance legal expenses cover excludes disputes with airlines for instance.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Errr what's your problem? I don't notice any major grammatical errors in my posts, a slight informal tone perhaps but then this is a forum not a job interview.
Maybe you should look at the spelling in your own post before criticising.0 -
