Help! Phone has died after trying to unlock!

Help please!
My phone is a Nokia 3310 on PAYG Orange. I tried to put an O2 sim in it (one of the free ones) by using the SIM unblocking code. It didn't work and when I put my own Orange SIM in it 'died' on me and now I can't even turn the phone on. Help!
Can anyone give me any advice please? I'd be really really grateful.
Thanks,
Hopeless

what was the code you put in?
ive never heard of any code you could put in to stop it working?
are you sure battery is fully charged? try a battery from another phone0 -
Thanks for your reply drahcir
The code (supplied by a friend) I put in was:
#pw+2354757353+1#
I have tried charging the phone and that can't be the problem because it's charging a very old Nokia successfully.
Any other ideas?Hopeless by name, hopeless by nature.0 -
how many times did you enter the code(or how many times have you entered codes in the past?)0

I tried it about 4 times. Is that what's done it?Hopeless by name, hopeless by nature.0

sounds like a software corruption on the phone, just unlucky it happened at the same time.
This is fixable , if you were near me i could do it gratis !!...(Medway Kent)
otherwise it's probably cheaper to buy a Nokia 3510i off the orang site for £20 inc p + pEx forum ambassador

Thanks Browntoa, that's a very kind offer but I'm in North Wales!
Will my existing SIM work in a new Orange phone? Is it the mobile that's knackered or the SIM itself? I'm quite happy to buy a new mobile if that's what it takes. My concern is that my phone directory is on my existing SIM and if if I've corrupted that then I've lost all my numbers!
Thanks for your help.Hopeless by name, hopeless by nature.0 -
yes, I suspect the original sim card is ok, buy a new phone, it will cost about £20 to get the old one fixed, and if you (or I do it for you) unlock it the the O2 sim card will work.
you can put the orange sim card in the new phone, copy all the contacts in one hit to the phone, put the O2 sim card in and copy back to the sim...(done a very similar thing 2 days ago myself .. changed from contract to O2 payg and did the copy thing on my nokia 7210 !)Ex forum ambassador

The cheapest way of sorting this would be to trade in your broken phone in return for a Nokia 3510i from the Orange shop @ £19.99, less an allowance of £10 for old phone?
The 3510i is an easy one to unlock for o2 use.0 -
Thank you thefirs. I''m not that bothered about having it on O2 now - I'd just like the use of my mobile. Thank you for the Orange website link - at the moment the old handset with SIM won't work at all - will they still accept it?Hopeless by name, hopeless by nature.0
