Ed Miliband wins Labour Leadership

Well if you've ever doubted that Labour was undemocratic...
The very fact that an MP gets 600 votes is just indicative of Labour's "I know what's best for you" attitude.
Well since the MPS didn't want Ed and got him foisted on them by the unions - you have got to feel sorry for them.0 -

Labour is a party of the left. Funded by the Unions. Despite Blairism it never totally converted into a new 20th century political force and will now accede the middle centre ground to the LibDems.
People need to understand what they are actually voting in the broadest sense. Not merely issues that effect their own pockets. Which seems to be the current limitation of political discussion.0 -
The confusion over which brother actually won would've been avoided if an ungrateful British public hadn't decided to give up on its libertarian egalitarian Labour Government.
As will be recalled, one of that Government's typically enlightened commitments was to the expenditure of a vast sum of (borrowed) money on the introduction of ID cards.
Now, it turns out, ID cards may have helped enormously in sorting out the Ed from the David. Some might carp that the spending of puiblic monies for the primary benefit of the Labour Party is, of course, unthinkable, and such could never happen.0 -

You jest
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
You jest

Looking back with hindsight you could say the LibDems (all originally labour party members) split away ahead of their time.
Ed Milliband was an economic advisor to Mr Brown in the previous Government. So is in for a rocky ride. As he will find it difficult to admit to mistakes that he was centrally party too.0 -
You've got to say Labours leadership election is unusually democratic. It's normally one man, one vote, but in labours case if you are an MP, who is a member of a trade union, it is one man, three votes. Of course, some votes are more equal than others, and the vote of an MP is much less equal than the vote of smelly party members, as it should be.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Does that include Conservative members of unions? Also Lib Dems etc?
It is those members of the union who chose to pay a political contribution to the Labour party.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
