Problems with MSI CR610 and flickering web pages

As the title says my MSI, bought of Argos Clearance (the same batch as Blackswan2) is causing me grief. Everything seems fine so far, but when browsing with IE the web pages flicker, particularly adverts and animated things. Moneysavingexpert and such are fine. Do I need to change any settings etc. or does this indicate a faulty machine? If I've got to send it back it needs to be by Tuesday, so quick advice would be very welcome!
Only got round to checking it properly today as kids are at their dads and it's a birthday present, so I've been trying to keep it secret.

Seems that you are not the only one experiencing this. Return it for a refund or replacement.0

Donnie can you expand on this who else is experiencing this is there a thread about it as I can't find it ..Mine comes on Monday so fingers crossed its ok as I could do without the hassle ...0

Donnie, do you think this is a fault and therefore incurable? It only does it on IE and it's fine on Firefox (just tested it, out of curiosity), could it be a windows 7 or graphics issue rather than a faulty laptop? Don't get me wrong I'll send it back if it's broke, but could do without the extra grief. Thanks for the help and advice!0

Mine seems to be doing the same, mostly on facebook when someone starts talking to me on chat, it seems fine on windows live messenger. Also it happens when i go onto games websites, debating whether to take it back or leave it a couple of days to see how it goes.0 -
The MSI support website lists for the Win 7 64 bit model a new chipset/VGA driver 8.634 for the CR610.
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=nbdriver&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1930&driver_os_no=4#os
Just to rule out any possible driver problem, you can check through Device Manager if you have this latest driver installed. If you do then your new laptop has a fault and should be returned for a refund.
If you don't and are comfortable updating system drivers then you can try the updated version. If it doesn't make any difference, roll the driver back and return your laptop for a refund.

Updating Windows 7 Drivers
No, don't do this. I'm not even sure that the 64 bit version of Windows 7 is installed.
The likely remedy is in the BIOS.
Anyone who is happy to attempt to fix it by themselves can download and run this solution; updating the BIOS. (Patches LED panel blinking issue.)
I haven't recommended it thus far, as I'm not exactly sure as to how to instruct someone update the BIOS on that machine, other than using Live Update.
I can attempt to post a guide to creating a bootable USB drive if someone wants to attempt to do it by themselves.
Possibly the best thing to do for most is to run MSI Live Update or to contact D&J Henry and tell them to run the BIOS Update for you.0 -
Can only speak for my machine, but it's a 32 bit operating system.
Is this (the flickering) possibly the reason they were returned in the first place..?0 -
Clicking on the "XP 32bit" tab on the link I provided gives the same option for the driver update.
Usually, BIOS updates carry far more risk of making your computer unusable if they are not carried out correctly.0 -

It's possible. Run the BIOS Update via Live Update. It's the safest way. No risk of damage to the machine.
Would be interested to know which BIOS version is currently on the machine.
Either way, the BIOS update claims to fix the problem.0
