For goodness sake. It IS like trying to get blood out of a stone. You have clarified what was already clear - ie that you rang to say you were ill.I appreciate you taking time to try and help me but I'm not really doing too well at the moment and that's without you being sarcastic.
There hasn't been any conversation since I spoke to them initially to let them know I was ill and couldn't make it into work. It was then I heard from them lastly to say that that was fine and they would contact me to let me know of when I was next due in work. That was over 2 weeks ago, my calls and texts this week have been ignored and so, I'm at a loss as to whether or not I've been unofficially sacked.
And now you have been exceedingly vague about how you tried to contact them this week 3 times after having been asked twice. But don't you see? That this contact is the important one - the one which shows whether you have made every reasonable effort to contact them, the one which shows their attitude towards you, the one we need to know about to help you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Ok - so you rang to say you were ill.
What happened next?

Now you kow why barristers have thick walls in their Chambers. It isn't for confidentiality. It's so that the other clients don't hear the screams when we strangle clients who won't answer the question
Ste-coxy - everyone is trying to help you, and I know it's upsetting for you, but not answering the questions asked doesn't help you one bit. I didn't ask you whether your filled in an application form or handed in a P46 - none of which you could prove. I asked you whether you could prove that you had worked there. Is there a contract or a letter of appointment, or anything in writing? DVardysShadow is trying to find out what was said and what you have done. It isn't enough to just phone up and say "I'm ill and won't be in" and then not contact them for a week! It's pretty normal to be expected to say why you are ill and keep in contact while you are off - otherwise your employer may think that you just can't be bothered turning up. Surely it wasn't impossible to go to the shop and see the employer once you were well enough?
So if you answer the questions, someone may be able to help. But if you don't, then they can't. It's simple.0 -
I think we can all agree it is not looking too good! Have you been paid at all and was cash in in hand agreed when you started working there? Have you received a contract, pay slip or anything at all from the company to demonstrate your employment?
no, I opted to be paid monthly rather than weekly as other members of staff there get paid on a weekly basis but I budget better getting paid monthly. I was told after working a week there that I'd missed the cut off date to be on their books and so, would get paid about 5/6 weeks wages the following month. They made me fill out a starters form which was bit like a contract, which means I should be on their books but they haven't given me anything to confirm employment no.0 -

I don't think she has actually told them she isn't ill any more, or perhaps forgot to phone in every day.....ergo she knows she is doomed. Or he. Whatever......If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

ste-coxy, I think they want to know about the phone calls you say were ignored... do you mean that nobody actually answered the phone or did you speak to someone but who never then passed on your message to the manager?DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

I know you never asked me if I filled in an application form or that they gave me a P46 to fill out however, I told you that as that is the only proof I have that I work(ed) for them - there is no confirmation letter and I have not received a payslip because as I mentioned in the post above I wanted to be paid monthly not weekly - plus it's an independent corner shop not a big chain that have normal HR/personnel procedures.
When I spoke to them for the last time they said to take the rest of the week off and that they would contact me. After not hearing back from them in that week I decided to try contacting them myself this week and my calls/texts have been ignored hence why I am seeking advice. I have not been down to the shop because as I mentioned, normally it is only the person who is working in the shop who is in there. The manager tends to come in during the day to do paperwork. I work full time during the day so it is not possible for me to get down there.0
