Agree with Elky. My friend got stopped by the Police for speeding in a 30 mph zone. I was the passenger in the car. The copper was about to write a ticket when an urgent call came over the radio. The copper said to my friend that he was lucky this time and legged back to his car.

Had a few of those when I was younger and stupider.

The best (or worst depending on your POV) was when I'd been doing 70 on a 50 limit dual carriageway (that used to be a 70) and was pulled by an unmarked car after I'd exited the 50 zone into the 30 zone (actually doing 30 now). Pulled into a handy bus stop so as not to disrupt traffic flow and as he was giving me a bollocking and writing out a ticket, someone shoots past at about 60ish (in a 30) and straight into the back of a car that was stopped at the red light, pushing it into oncoming traffic.

As he runs over, cheeky me shouts, "Am I still getting done?"

"On your way", came the reply.

I didn't speed on that road again though.
  • He couldn't be bothered with the paperwork, funny when I was a kid no one bothered with seat belts now you get questioned as to your stupidity. Funny old world.

tbh even before it become law to wear a seatbelt I always wore one 'cos I didn't fancy the idea of flying through the windscreen if I had a bump.

Even if you don't believe that seatbelts do anything (I do personally, but don't want to get into that debate) wearing one is still moneysaving as the car electronics are more likely to deploy the airbag in a minor bump if it detects that no seatbelt is being worn. These are single use devices and can be expensive to replace.

He was probably just wording you up so that hopefully you will remember not do do it again.

Move along there now...nothing to see..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

If you watch the Cops and Traffic programs , you see a fair few bobbys have a similar tactic when dealing with traffic offenders .

If they give you a right scolding from the off , , then they are doing it for a quick scare you straight effect . then let you drive off / go lightly on you .

it's when they start being nice and polite they are going to give a you ticket / day in court ect .

was said on the LA cop Drama Southland best .

Be as stupid as you like, but from a moneysaving point of view you should just wear the seatbelt - not because we care about you, but it might save us taxpayers a bit of money in sick pay - because the police go off on the sick for months after seeing one too many young kids hanging in pieces over the bonnets of cars after coming out through the windscreen...;)

Yes, and lots more people died !!!
Have a look at the killed statistics for road accidents.
They are coming down and that's just one of the reasons.
