Flat packs only take ages if they are from Argos. The Ikea ones have understandable directions AND there's always a few extra screws and stuff.

make sure you send then back as recorded delivery, so that if they say they never received them back, you can say that they were signed for!

It's not bad at all Spud - it's lovely that you enjoy the company of your children. The dynamic is just different when it's just the two of you. Knowing you....you'll probably end up talking about the two of them anyway :rotfl:

Going back 10 years, when we had the occasional child free evening, we used to lie and say we'd been out, but actually we'd stay in and just enjoy being together ;)

I guess we both realise that they wont want to come out with us for too many more years. We do really enjoy their company and want to make the most of them being with us before they go off and make their own lives.

Oh god, the thought of that made my eyes leak

Hi All - sorry not been only much of late, but those of you who know me know of my loss. It was the funeral yesterday and it was fantastic, sorry if that sounds an outlandish thing to say about a funeral, but I had really wanted the day to go as planned and it did to the T. She had wanted a Wedgewood blue coffin and that is what she got, with silver handle and a silver plate. The flowers on the top were just from me OH and my fine sons and two other close friends. So I made 7 blue card hearts for us to each write our own message. I was so touched by what my sons wrote. Then my darling OH and sons carried her into the crematorium. I WAS SO PROUD. I had chosen Gretchen Peters "When You Are Old" for her to go in and at the end "I Knew You By Heart" Eva Cassidy. The words were so appropriate. My Personal Tribute seemed to be so fitting and lots of people told me afterwards that I had it just right. Then it was over - all the planning and that's it. But we went on to celebrate over a glass and plate of food - and everyone seemed to think she would have loved her day. Then in the evening we went out for a meal as a family and raised a glass in her memory. There is still loads to do with regard to sorting out her estate, but i know feel that I have turned a corner and am looking forward to writing the thank you letters and ensuring the next part of the process is done properly. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR THE THOUGHTS - you are a great crowd. Billie xx

  • I am exhausticated. :)
DD2 and SIL hinted at a nice dinner for today last night. I did a trolley dash round Morrisons at 10am, took Mum to Donnington Market, got said dinner on the table (Mum and Dad stayed too) for 4pm and have just finished clearing up.
    Nice day though.
  • I did the sides and two drawers.

It took so long to sort out all the bits

it will look like this sort of

    but with better handles
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Billie, that does sound lovely. This may sound odd but it is such a comfort when some thing like goes well. Good on you xxx
