Not exactly doing brilliantly on the AFD front, but not going completely overboard on the ADs either. Having a lovely Christmas, so far so good, Mr PIR actually cooked yesterday for FIL and BIL when they came over - most impressed, he's never cooked before!!! Roast beef, yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, parsnips etc - amazing! DD1 home from first term at Uni - she's lucky enough to be working at her old job over the holidays, but very cranky and snappy with me, which is rather sad. I hope she improves before she goes back to uni.

Happy Christmas and have a healthy and successful 2011 to all my friends on this thread!

  • AF for me tonight too .... made it to 10.

    :j

Wasn't easy, as I got given beer and whiskey for Christmas. Going to try for a couple more though.

Well done to everyone who's managing to resist alcoholic temptation this week!

You're very welcome frugal. Just at the moment, most of us cutters-down are working on getting a couple more AF days in before the new year, so do join us. Hope you managed tonight! Come the end of the week, we'll be setting targets for January if that interests you although feel free to do a day at a time if it suits you best. As Pen mentioned earlier, displacement activities are good for breaking the habit.

    'night all.

I failed tonight :( But I would love to join you all for new year challenges... I guess for me, it will be going from 1 day AF one day on, to 2 days AF one day on.... and so on.

And yes, displacement activities are def the way to go so I will think of things to do to take my mind off alcohol :)

    Thanks :)

    Morning all
Just thought i would pop in and say hello again. As expected havent managed any AF days recently but did only have a couple of small glasses of wine yesterday when visiting the in laws and then had a cup of tea when i got home which is pretty good for me. As soon as i came in i went and fetched the wine from the shed and brought it in, and then stopped and thought 'do i really want/need this' and my preference was tea. This is a one off im sure but pretty chuffed all the same. Was hoping for a much better nights sleep to no avail, so my plan today is to either have an AF day or at most half bottle of wine setting myself the challenge of only opening the bottle after 7pm and not 5pm! I know i wont manage a couple of AF days before Hogmany but at least if i cut down a bit, as Mr T says Every little helps!!
Going to cinema today to see meet the parents/little fockers which should be good. Have a great day everyone.

No update on figures for me. Had some friends round last night and had a few glasses of wine. And was asleep by 8.30 - defintaely think thats the decongestant effect maman!

Trying to think of somewhere fun and cheap to take Piglet today....somewhere that doesn't involve shops or shopping!!

    hi everyone,

AF night on the 27th and only one beer yesterday... Saying this I have a killer of a flu/cold so dont feel like drinking.. so a bit of a loose win situation....

I am thinking about drink for large parts of the day... If I am honest with myself I am still not sure whether I will manage to cut down or if that will somehow prelong the pain... Time will tell.

I am not sure how the challenges work, but I would like to be added, I think it will help with the motivation.

My challenge so far was to have 7 AF days between Dec 20-31 so far I have managed 4....

    Best wishes to all.
