Hi, Hiney and welcome to the thread. Your sobriety is a lesson for us all. Too many on here, me included, kid ourselves that a few days af is an achievement but for some again, me included, the only real answer is to stop drinking completely. Some here have achieved this, others I think are frightened of the thought of never drinking again.
It certainly takes guts and courage and I admire you for your achievement.Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Hello, this is my first time posting on here and thought I'd introduce myself.
This week I will be 8 years sober. For me cutting down was not a option but was a route I tried once and looking back I think this aided me to carry on drinking rather than help. I called for advice and was sent a pack to write down my drink habits and was advised to try not to drink for 3 months, This I managed and was feeling really great, but as soon as those 3 months were up I picked up where I left off but with one big difference I know thought my problem wasn't that bad as I'd managed not to drink for 3 months. It took another 5 years of increasingly heavier drinking before I finally got help to give up all together.
Some of you on here will be able to cut down but for some the only option will be to try and give up.
Good luck to all
