hi everyone
my golf estate mk 4 has a couple os issues which may all be connected..............
drivers elec window is stuck - fortunately stuck closed!
the motor is working both up and down but no movement in window!
the courtesy light at bottom of drivers dorr has stopped working (red/white light)
and the interior light doesn't come on when the drivers door is opened
...... like i said they may all be connected as all the faults happened within 2 or 3 days of each other.
Any help would be appreciated??

I removed the door panel on mine and it had come out of the clips. They were not broken, I just needed to push the window down from above so that it was sitting in the clips again. You wont know without removing the door card. From memory when the door card is removed there are 2 access holes that will allow you to see if it has come out of the clips or if the clips are broken.
You can check the connections to the lights when you have the panel off. It is probably a faulty switch though, located somewhere around the door frame which will be pressed when the door is closed. I'll look next time I'm at my car to see where it is. To test, remove the switch and then the plug. Short out the plug with a paper clip and if the light comes on you have a faulty switch!0 -

Skodas inherit this issue (use same parts), I wonder if they will follow?
Only just noticed the thread is from 2006 (well had it pointed out to me)

Yep, Just experienced the same problem on our 2004 Fabia - co=incidentally a collegue at work had his go at the weekend on his Fabia - this is his second window to go. I phoned Skoda C.S. yesterday and they were not interested unless the car was under 5 yrs old and always serviced through thier dealer network.0
