sounds like quite a common problem on the Passat, as well as on the Audi A3 and A6. The parts are different, but the Audi parts can be modified to repair the Passat.

The Audi clips can be bought on ebay quite often for around £20, much cheaper than going to a main dealer and buying a whole new regulator!!0 -
this is one of the many electrical problems my golf has, not a common fault sir0

My Golf has a handle to operate the windows0

I often find that it is a common "fault" on every car, specially during the winter. These cars are the same ones which get keys bent in the door locks and wiper arms snapping off... :rolleyes:0 -
I bought a new Golf 1.6 TDi 'Blue Motion' in September and have been absolutely delighted with it until today - I got back to my car after a shopping trip to find that every single window was wide open! I hadn't forgotten to close them before getting out (I hadn't opened them) and there's no 'window' function on the key fob that I could have pressed by accident. I'd opened the boot to put my groceries in, replaced my trolley in the trolley shelter, and was going back to the car when I noticed it, so maybe the 'boot' opening button on the key fob caused it, I just know that I was pretty spooked!
On the plus side, Adsa must have incredibly honest customers because nothing was missing from the car.0 -
You have probbaly held the "unlock" button on your key fob for a few seconds as this will drop the windows down.
Could have been caught in your pocket/bag/purse.0 -
Thanks, Harveybobbles - I could well have done what you said. I might just go out and see if I can do it again. I love my car so much that I'd hate to find out it had a glitch that had me going back & forth to the garage.0

My passenger window dropped during the cold spell. I think a passenger must have tried to open the window when it was frozen and that broke the clips. I'll need to remove the interior trim and see what is needed to sort it. Hopefully i'll just need the clips mariejader has posted above. My car is 9 years old so I wont be able to claim on warranty. I am however trying to claim for through corrosion on the front wheel arches. So far to no avail...0

Hi myrna, my Mark 6 does the same. It shocked me to go out and find the windows open but I realised it happens if you press the remote too much.0
