I an running a project that gets kids growing in schools; so I teach them how to grow fruit and veg :D

Ah so not a teacher in a school then. I'd investigate retaking your GCSE or doing an equivalency test.

No - just teaching in different SEN schools; get the best of both worlds.....no way am I paying to do my GCSE or an equivalency test when I have a degree in the topic - that's total nonsense....

It's an entry requirement though. Sounds a little like cutting off your nose to spite your face, there. You'll never be a qualified teacher.

I'm not worried in the slightest to be honest - who wants to be part of a system that ignores a degree and an A level in favour of a lower qual? What does that prove?

It proves it's a case of sour grapes on your behalf!

    Does it indeed?

To do an English GCSE costs £295 as I looked into it a few weeks ago; and I would have to attend and do course work etc; and I can't find anywhere to do an equivalency test; not whilst working full time in a job which means staying away various nights of the week around the country.

I spent 6 years doing my degree - why on earth would I do another year at the lowest level just to tick a box?

It's the system that stinks; if they don't want me then there's other things to be getting on with in life - but thanks anyway for your insights into my psyche.

  • It seems slightly ridiculous that you'd nee the GCSE when you have an a level and degree in the subject, although it's odd you managed to get those without the GCSE as it was a requirement for my college to take the a level to have the GCSE.

It might be a requirement and it might be a 'should have' however it wasn't and I didn't.

    Thanks anyway :D
