I wouldn't take it to the papers because then any anonymity would go and I know the last thing ds wants or needs is to have his name and face plastered all over the papers (even the local ones). It wouldn't influence any decisions and would do a hell of a lot of harm to our family. I have only posted so much detail here because it's 'anonymous' and it's been difficult to do that but not knowing anything about the system I needed help and MSE has been a godsend.
I just want a confirmed diagnosis of current illness, a medical that actually takes place and the right decision! Then maybe all the stress will go away and ds may improve.

I would advise you to secretly record the medical (ie under no circumstances tell them you are recording or they will stop the medical, and stop your benefit claim).

    Best to cover your back..

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

Speaking from personal experience... On my DLA claim ATOS finally got their act together when my support worker rang the DWP to point out that ATOS' incompetence was preventing not just my DLA but other benefits from being paid at the correct rate and that I risked being unable to pay the rent. The ATOS Dr rang the following day and turned up at my home 3 days later. So, as the delay in providing your dad a medical will be affecting his income (assuming he 'passes' the medical LOL), is it worth going down that route?

(I also have a written apology from ATOS in relation to my ESA claim. Having been told that ATOS had no complaints procedure I complained via the ESA appeal procedure. I would urge other people to complain via the department they are making the claim from as it makes the DWP more aware of complaints against ATOS.)

ATOS do have a complaints procedure.

Can you post where too complain as my specalist is furious a Nurse knows more about my illness after a 30 minute chat than he does after treating me for 5 yrs.

I agree with you on this one!
Have been under my Consultant Psychiatrist for one of my illnesses since 1994, spent time 'sectioned' in a secure psychiatric unit and another consultant for another illness since 2004.

But they know little about my abilities and nothing about me personally but it seems that ATOS are able to judge that I am fully fit for normal employment. Yeah too right!!!

As for complaining, I doubt you will get anywhere. ATOS are producing results for the government at a rate far and in excess of their wildest dreams. They are managing to find upwards of 80% one way or another, of all ESA claimants as 'pulling a fast one'. What a fantastic result!!
So why would anyone want to change things that are working?

Would that be you that was assessed by ATOS, or one of your multiple personalities?

    Oh we are witty today!!

No that was on me personally, not my many aliases.

The facts are as stated, those are my circumstances which ATOS decided were not relevant for their test.
I was one of the 80% or so that were found fit for work incorrectly.

End of story, not a lot else can be said or done, they are in charge!

I agree, but it is worth complaining, as ATOS have targets for the number of complaints, if they exceed them, they can be penalised.

Even if ATOS do the usual, and fob you off (which is quite likely) still complain, just to get it on record...

I am sorry this is off topic but I missed the thread last week where Andyandflo gave away the fact that they have others names. Could you please tell me what they are? Others may be interested too.
